Deanestor has delivered a \u00a31.8m fit-out contract for Morrison Construction.<\/div>\n<h3>Willmott Dixon will lead the construction of Burgess Hill Passivhaus school<\/h3>\n<div>\n<p>Construction of Bedelands Academy, a 900-pupil school in Burgess Hill, is set to start later this year. The school will provide high-quality secondary places for families living nearby, and is expected to open to its first pupils in September 2025.<\/p>\n<p>West Sussex County Council has committed nearly \u00a340m of funding to create the new school, and around \u00a318m of funding is being contributed by developers.<\/p>\n<p>To achieve Passivhaus accreditation, the school is being designed to be net-zero carbon in operation. The project underlines the Council&#8217;s commitment to significantly reducing carbon emissions, with climate resilience built into the school&#8217;s design.<\/p>\n<p>A 16-place Special Support Centre has been incorporated within the school for children with special educational needs and disabilities, along with high-quality sports facilities that will be available for community use.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3>The climate-resilient design specifications include the following:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Highly energy-efficient in operation<\/li>\n<li>Provides an inspiring and welcoming, inclusive environment for learning, following best practice standards<\/li>\n<li>Generates its own energy on-site without using any fossil fuels, producing an estimated 296,000 kWh of energy a year from around 1,000 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/pv-panels\/105300\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">solar photovoltaic panels<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Retains and enhances the existing areas of biodiversity within the site, including the mature oak trees that are home to rare bats, and the hedgerows that provide habitat for dormice.<\/li>\n<li>Stays a comfortable temperature in all conditions using<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/building-control-news\/natural-building-ventilation-importance\/107624\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> fresh air ventilation<\/a>, supporting staff and pupils\u2019 wellbeing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Deanestor has delivered its 12th fit out project for Morrison<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.deanestor.co.uk\/portfolio\/new-school-campus-west-lothian\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The new Winchburgh Campus near Edinburgh<\/a> was built by Morrison on behalf of West Lothian Council and their delivery partner, Hub South East Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>The project has provided two new secondary schools, a primary school, and a sports and wellbeing hub.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_120962\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-120962\" style=\"width: 2000px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-120962 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Deanestor-Winchburgh-Campus-4638c.jpg\" alt=\"school developments\" width=\"2000\" height=\"968\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Deanestor-Winchburgh-Campus-4638c.jpg 2000w, https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Deanestor-Winchburgh-Campus-4638c-300x145.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Deanestor-Winchburgh-Campus-4638c-768x372.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Deanestor-Winchburgh-Campus-4638c-1024x496.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Deanestor-Winchburgh-Campus-4638c-696x337.jpg 696w, https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Deanestor-Winchburgh-Campus-4638c-1068x517.jpg 1068w, https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Deanestor-Winchburgh-Campus-4638c-868x420.jpg 868w, https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Deanestor-Winchburgh-Campus-4638c-1920x929.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2000px) 100vw, 2000px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-120962\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Deanestor Winchburgh Campus<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The contract included the provision of over 300 base cabinets, 940m of white laminate worktops, over 1km of adjustable shelving, 16 teaching walls, 215 resource storage units, write-on teaching aids, shoebox storage units, and wall cupboards.<\/p>\n<h3>The client and teaching staff are delighted with the new campus<\/h3>\n<p>David Wright, construction manager at Morrison Construction, commented: \u201cDeanestor performed really well at each stage of this project \u2013 pre-construction, programme scheduling, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/re-thinking-project-management-facilitate-transition-net-zero-in-construction\/111285\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">project management<\/a>. The quality of the furniture they manufactured was excellent, and the client and teaching staff are delighted with the new campus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis project follows Deanestor\u2019s successful delivery of the furniture and fitout contract at Barony Campus and good relationships with their team have been fostered on both of these large-scale schemes. We appreciate their transparent and collaborative approach and good communications, which build trust.
