New appointments have been made this week, which include Amit Oberoi as the executive chairman of the Considerate Constructors Scheme, Matthew Cain as Galliford Try’s new behavioural safety manager and Julian Elsbury as National Timber Systems design director<\/h2>\n

The first of the new appointments include Amit Oberoi as the executive chairman of the Considerate Constructors Scheme<\/a> – the organisation which works with the construction industry to improve its image – to help raise its standards and build public trust in construction.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Oberoi held the position of non-executive chairman from July 2022 and board director from January 2022. He will lead the organisation on an interim basis while the Board resumes recruiting a new chief executive.<\/p>\n

Oberoi is a global risk management practitioner with over 20 years of cross-industry experience in leadership roles in construction, technology, management consulting and national authorities.<\/p>\n

He currently works as chief executive at yppah, a mental health technology organisation. He has previously worked for construction organisations, including Lendlease, and on large, high-profile infrastructure projects in locations across the UK, the Middle East and Australia.<\/p>\n

Oberoi commented: “I am excited to take on this role and to be able to put my knowledge and experience to work in developing the organisation. I will be guiding the executive’s efforts, upholding our values, and delivering a smooth transition to the new Chief Executive when we make this appointment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Graham Watts, chief executive of the Construction Industry Council and Considerate Constructors Scheme board director, added: “We welcome Amit to the position of executive chairman. His enthusiasm, combined with first-hand industry experience, will be a great asset for the Considerate Constructors Scheme, and we look forward to working with him in this new capacity. In contrast, the search for a new chief executive continues.”<\/p>\n

Chief executive of the Construction Products Association and Considerate Constructors Scheme board director Peter Caplehorn commented: “In his previous role as non-Executive Chairman and a Board Director of the Scheme, Amit has shown huge energy and enthusiasm in the work of the Considerate Constructors Scheme to raise standards and build public trust.<\/p>\n

“We are delighted to have him as executive chairman and see his obvious talents make an even more positive impact going forwards for the organisation, the community and the wider industry.”<\/p>\n

Galliford Try appoints new behavioural safety manager<\/h3>\n

Galliford Try has appointed Matthew Cain as its new behavioural safety manager to lead and further develop its award-winning behavioural safety programme, Challenging Beliefs, Affecting Behaviour (CBAB).\"\"<\/p>\n

Cain joined the group in 2021 as the lead health, safety and environment (HS&E) advisor for the building North West business.<\/p>\n

In his new role, Cain will be responsible for the ongoing evolution of CBAB, linking wider elements of the business strategy, such as wellbeing and quality, into the programme, supporting CBAB coaches and champions, and promoting its principles within the supply chain, ensuring it remains the leading practice in the industry. He will report to HS&E director Mike Webb.<\/p>\n

Mike Webb said: “Challenging Beliefs, Affecting Behaviour forms the backbone of our approach to health and safety<\/a>, using awareness, training, coaching and visible leadership to ensure that the safety of our people and those who come into contact with our work remains front and centre on every project Galliford Try works on.<\/p>\n

“I am delighted with Matthew\u2019s appointment to this newly formed role, which will ensure that the programme remains fresh, effective and fit for purpose across all parts of our modern business and I look forward to working with Matthew as he drives forward our programme.”<\/p>\n

Julian Elsbury has been appointed to the newly created role of design director at National Timber Systems<\/h3>\n

Julian Elsbury has almost 40 years of experience in engineered wood products<\/a> design, sales and management and is well-respected in the industry.<\/p>\n

He has been NTS design manager since 2020, when he joined the division from Pasquill. He has led the design teams across NTS\u2019s four manufacturing sites at Bristol, Sheffield, Newcastle and Northallerton.<\/p>\n

As NTS design director Elsbury will continue to bring consistency of the design approach and ensure that the National Timber Systems’ team has the technical and commercial knowledge to provide a best-in-class experience for its wide range of customers.<\/p>\n

Julian Elsbury said: “I am very proud and honoured to be promoted to and entrusted with this key role within the NTS team. I look forward to helping my colleagues steer NTS from strength to strength.<\/p>\n

“I am fortunate to have a good team of designers around me, and through continual advancement in training and skillset, I believe we can grow the business to rank alongside those sitting at the \u2018top table\u2019 of our sector.”<\/p>\n

Nick Kershaw, NTS managing director, commented: “Julian quickly established himself as head of the NTS Design Department when he joined us. I am delighted he is our first design director. I am confident that he will continue to improve the way we operate.<\/p>\n

“The new role is part of our ambition to be a leader in the specialist engineered wood products market, recognised for innovation and consistent high quality.”<\/p>\n
