{"id":123157,"date":"2023-03-21T10:45:23","date_gmt":"2023-03-21T10:45:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=123157"},"modified":"2023-05-02T20:09:50","modified_gmt":"2023-05-02T19:09:50","slug":"kier-boyer-historic-school-refurb-new-housing-in-gloucestershire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/kier-boyer-historic-school-refurb-new-housing-in-gloucestershire\/123157\/","title":{"rendered":"Kier and Boyer to deliver school refurbishment and new housing in Gloucestershire"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Boyer has secured planning permission for Taylor Wimpey to deliver new housing in Gloucestershire, whilst Kier begins work on providing new facilities for historic Gloucestershire school<\/h2>\n<p>Boyer has obtained reserved matters approval for Taylor Wimpey to deliver new housing in Gloucestershire, Innsworth.<\/p>\n<p>The resolution was awarded by Tewkesbury Borough Council on 21 February 2023 and will see the delivery of 275 dwellings, including 176 new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/featured\/net-zero-carbon-homes-aimch\/112917\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">net zero carbon-ready homes<\/a> for army personnel and their families at Imjin Barracks.<\/p>\n<p>The project is significant in Taylor Wimpey\u2019s partnership with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO).<\/p>\n<p>The remaining development will deliver 81 affordable homes, of which 60% are for affordable rent, and 40% are for immediate housing for the local community, alongside areas of public open space.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-123165 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Innsworth-1-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Innsworth-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Innsworth-1-696x464.jpg 696w, https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Innsworth-1-630x420.jpg 630w, https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Innsworth-1.jpg 719w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>The net zero carbon-ready homes will feature cutting-edge sustainability measures, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Photovoltaic panels to generate green energy<\/li>\n<li>Air source <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/heat-pumps-are-three-times-more-efficient-than-gas-boilers-only-18-of-engineers-know-how-to-install-them-studies-show\/122909\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">heat pumps<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Smart heating controls<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/building-control-news\/the-future-of-low-carbon-underfloor-heating-under-part-l\/112838\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Underfloor heating<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.selectaglaze.co.uk\/product-range\/product-range\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Triple glazing<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Increased insulation<\/li>\n<li>Electric vehicle charging points<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Work on the homes, which are being provided under the Defence Estates Optimisation (DEO) Army Programme, will start later this year and is due to be completed by 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Jemma Shorrock, associate director in Boyer\u2019s Bristol office, said: &#8220;It has been exciting to assist Taylor Wimpey in securing this latest Reserved Matters approval to deliver much-needed affordable housing and new net zero carbon-ready homes for army personnel.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The development is one of the first of its kind and may well be an exemplar of development to the wider development industry. The parking facilities are being remodelled, and an existing Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) is being moved and replaced.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kier.co.uk\/sectors\/education-kschool\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kier will use its new design platform kSchool<\/a>, which creates unique designs for schools, to deliver the project.<\/p>\n<p>Andy Bolas, regional director at Kier construction western &amp; wales, said: &#8220;This school was founded over 639 years ago, and the buildings we\u2019re upgrading were built post-war, so for us providing 21st Century accommodation is a real honour and something that we, as a Gloucestershire-based business, are incredibly proud of.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Not only does this project further evidence our expertise in delivering state-of-the-art sustainable schools, but it also demonstrates our innovative kSchool design platform.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hannah Khan, acting Headteacher at Katharine Lady Berkeley\u2019s School, said: &#8220;We are pleased to have been included in the first phase of the DfE School Rebuilding Programme.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Over the past two years, the teams from DfE, Kier and Mace have worked closely with the school to ensure that the final design stays true to the school\u2019s current campus feel, takes account of our stunning geographical location and the school\u2019s vision for the future.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are excited to explore the new opportunities this project will bring to our students and the school community.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We look forward to working with Kier over the coming years.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The project was procured through the Department for Education (DfE) CF17 Framework, and work is expected to finish in Spring 2025.<\/p>\n<div
