The Winvic construction training programme will deliver hands-on construction training sessions to engineering students at Northampton College, teaching them practical skills related to their studies, as well as important soft skills<\/h2>\n

Winvic<\/a> provides expertise in the design, build and fit-out of industrial, multi-room and commercial projects and the delivery of large-scale, complex civil and infrastructure schemes. The company is widely known as the leading shed specialist in the UK and is regarded as an authority on sustainable builds, privately rented sector projects, student accommodation and retail and leisure schemes.<\/p>\n

The Winvic Enrichment Programme will be delivered over a number of weeks in collaboration with client Prologis UK at The Hub at DIRFT, a new training facility at the Logistics Park available to occupiers and local businesses. It will provide students with up to five days of construction industry insights, teaching them practical skills related to their studies, as well as important soft skills.<\/a><\/p>\n

What will be included in the construction training programme?<\/h3>\n

The programme will include a site tour, an overview of contractor, subcontractor and developer roles and health and safety awareness training. The course will also teach CV writing, interview, and presentation techniques.<\/p>\n

The programme has been designed specifically to meet the needs of the 16 first- and second-year BTEC Engineering students at Northampton College. Sessions include hands-on equipment training, lessons on concrete mixes and concrete slab pouring demonstrations.<\/p>\n

Several of Winvic\u2019s subcontractors, such as Stanford Flooring, Sitecrete and Collins Earthworks, have contributed to the construction training programme<\/a> by providing transport and practical sessions on machine use and on-site planning.<\/p>\n

The Programme can complement existing college courses<\/h3>\n

Enquiries from further education providers about the Winvic Enrichment Programme can be made via training@winvic.co.uk<\/a>. The construction training has been designed to be flexibly delivered over one week or day release and can be tailored to complement different college courses. Changes recently made to the T-Level pathway mean one-third of the required placement hours can now be undertaken as enrichment sessions.<\/p>\n
