Online training specialist The Digital College has launched a new business portal for storing training records in one easy-to-use place

A new training records portal from The Digital College will help businesses maintain all staff training records, certificates and and policies in one place.

The service can even store records from external training providers, as well as providing expiry reminders for qualifications, all in a single easily navigable platform.

Comprehensive training is vital for all industries, but especially in construction

In a 2019 survey, 38% of Brits said that their employer’s training was out of date and uncomprehensive.

If your employees are ignorant of the rules and regulations which apply to them, and how to work safely and efficiently, they may make mistakes which could endanger themselves, their colleagues and your business.

Certain forms of training are legally compulsory based on the nature and structure of your business; however they are often also in the best interest of you and your employees. For example, ensuring that any staff operating heavy machinery have the necessary training is obligatory, but beyond that, we all want to prevent any workplace injuries.

Annual stastistics released by HSE in 2022 found that there were 59,000 cases of non-fatal work-related injury in the construction industry alone.

Breaches in Health and Safety can incur fines of up to £20,000. Breaches that go far enough to endanger people’s lives can mean unlimited fines, or even imprisonment. If an employee is injured at a workplace where best practice wasn’t implemented, such as through inadequate training, there is also a chance they could make a legal claim on the business.

A training records portal protects both employees and businesses

Maintaining records of all the training delivered to each employee is essential business practice, but is often poorly executed due to the time and effort involved. Keeping track of training demonstrates that your company operates in a way which is compliant with any applicable laws and regulations.

With The Digital College’s new service, businesses will be able to store any training records, certificates, and training policies in one place. Data such as CSCS Card levels, Fire Inspection training certificates, and evidence of regulatory compliance training, will all be stored in a centralized, GDPR compliant tool. The platform also enables users to download their full company records, which is vital in the cases of inspection.

Marty Jones, Learning and Development Director of The Digital College said “We are delighted to announce the launch of The Digital College’s new training records platform. We are confident that it will be a useful tool for businesses, helping them operate efficiently and productively.”
