Leviat joins 450 other companies in providing ICE approved structured training schemes for civil engineers looking to develop their skills<\/h2>\n

Leviat has been recognised by the the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) for their support of civil engineers development and STEM careers, officially becoming an Approved Employer.<\/p>\n

The lifting, connecting and anchoring technology specialist will now be able to supply ICE-approved civil engineer development schemes, joining a cohort over 450 strong.<\/p>\n

The Initial Professional Development Panel (IPDP) has formally approved Leviat\u2019s Technical Director Mark Smith to act as the Supervising Civil Engineer for the ICE training scheme.<\/p>\n

Demand for engineers in UK construction is increasing<\/h3>\n

According to the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), an additional 225,000 construction workers<\/a> might be required by 2027.<\/p>\n

Similar to the wider construction industry, civils and infrastructure are facing a skills shortage, meaning Leviat’s civil engineer development schemes are much needed.<\/p>\n

Leviat’s employees will now be able to gain the skills, knowledge and experience needed to complete their initial professional development on their path to becoming professionally qualified.<\/p>\n

This increases their chances of career advancement and encourages more young people to join the industry, gaining on-the-job training and real life experience<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Leviat has already begun reaching out to students<\/h3>\n

Two graduates employed at Leviat recently attended Brunel University in London and delivered a presentation about Leviat\u2019s place in the construction industry and potential career opportunities.<\/p>\n

The event received positive feedback from students and lecturers, with one student commenting:\u00a0\u201cIt was an eye-opener that further boosts my morale to pursue excellence in the engineering industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr Esmaeel Esmaeeli, Lecturer in Structural Engineering at Brunel University said: \u201cstudents found the presentation very interesting, and it gave them a better understanding of civil engineering firms<\/a> in the UK, knowledge of innovative connection systems and a better understanding of possible career opportunities after graduation.\u201d<\/p>\n

This is only part of Leviat\u2019s wider strategy to engage with leading universities to attract future talent and enhance their technical departments.<\/p>\n

Leviat will also attend additional open days and career fairs, invite students to visit their headquarters in Sheffield, arrange site visits and offer internships for final-year students to get a taste of the industry at work.<\/p>\n
