Technology has truly revolutionised construction design and engineering. Advanced BIM software now enables users to generate intricate building designs quickly, incorporating specific components with ease<\/h2>\n

One issue that still exists is the dependability of the results produced by BIM software, particularly for mechanical calculations.<\/p>\n

Accurate calculations are just as essential as ensuring the compatibility of design components; however, accuracy can be tricky to evaluate. Pipe sizing calculations, for example, are derived from numerous factors such as flow rate, velocity, and pipe lengths. If even one calculation is inaccurate, the overall result can be unreliable.<\/p>\n

Trimble has streamlined calculations<\/h3>\n

To validate the accuracy, currently, designers must undertake rigorous checks that even extend to repeating the full calculation method. It’s very time-consuming and not a practical use of time at all.<\/p>\n

To address this problem within the MEP industry, CIBSE and the product team from Trimble MEP<\/a> have developed the Software Verification Assessment program that can reliably test whether BIM software calculations are correct and in accordance with CIBSE guidance.<\/p>\n

Trimble’s BIM software is certified by CIBSE<\/h3>\n

BIM software that successfully meets the requirements of this independent verification assessment is certified by CIBSE and issued an SVA logo, which confirms that all BIM-generated calculations are correct and up to current standards.<\/p>\n

Trimble’s Stabicad<\/a> is currently the first in the industry to have all of its mechanical building system design modules independently certified by CIBSE. This achievement provides assurances to mechanical engineers that the calculations are accurate and means they can skip the validation.<\/p>\n

Producing accurate calculations greatly reduces project risks and facilitates more accurate M&E designs within shorter timeframes, increasing overall productivity and efficiency. With CIBSE-certified BIM software, engineers and designers can finally have peace of mind, knowing that there are no hidden gremlins that might derail the project.<\/p>\n
