Energy consultancy company Axis has been acquired by RSK, a leading organisation in the delivery of sustainable solutions<\/h2>\n

Energy consultancy Axis, which is based in Aberdeen, Scotland, has been serving the energy sector since 2001.<\/p>\n

The company covers production, decommissioning, and carbon capture and storage (CCS) services for the global energy sector.<\/p>\n

Axis<\/a> has worked on over 2,400 projects across 70 countries and has an annual turnover of \u00a324m. They have offices in Norway, Kurdistan and the Middle East.<\/p>\n

More than 100 specialists with expertise in subsurface, well, and facilities services are currently working with Axis. The company\u2019s CCS experts recently undertook a project to identify potential UK carbon storage sites to store industrial CO\u2082 emissions.<\/p>\n

CCS is vital in mitigating climate change<\/h3>\n

CCS is widely recognised as the sole solution for reducing atmospheric CO\u2082. The project received \u00a32.5m of funding from the Department of Energy and Climate Change and took 12 months to complete.<\/p>\n

As a result, Axis was able to identify identified 20 specific CO\u2082 storage sites (from a potential 579 in the UK). This represents just a fraction of the strategic national CO\u2082 storage resources potential, which is estimated to be around 78,000m tonnes.<\/p>\n

Just 15% of the country\u2019s total potential storage capacity would serve the UK for around 100 years. Five of the sites discovered by Axis have been selected for further analysis due to their potential ability to mobilise commercial-scale CCS projects and de-risk CCS stores for future developers.<\/p>\n

Axis is creating new solutions through energy consultancy<\/h3>\n

The energy transition in the UK<\/a> has increased significantly in recent years. Axis is currently engaged in an extensive array of CCS and hydrogen studies on behalf of several clients from the UK and abroad. These studies include research on store screening and feasibility assessments, strategy development plans, pre-FEED technical studies, storage development plans, and license applications.<\/p>\n

This will enable us to grow the business through the RSK international network and will provide an excellent platform for further growth in the low-carbon and energy transition areas of the business, providing opportunities for the company and our talented workforce,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

RSK has expanded to include approximately 180 companies as part of an ambitious growth strategy. The company has a workforce of over 12,000 and achieved an annual turnover of \u00a3796m for 2022.<\/p>\n

\u201cCarbon capture and storage is a crucial technology on the journey to net zero, which is an increasingly emphasised priority for many nations, including the UK. RSK, with its commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, is conscious of the need to support industries evolving to introduce new technologies that support our universal climate goals<\/a>,\u201d said RSK Group CEO Alan Ryder.<\/p>\n
