{"id":128660,"date":"2023-06-22T11:52:04","date_gmt":"2023-06-22T10:52:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=128660"},"modified":"2023-06-23T15:18:32","modified_gmt":"2023-06-23T14:18:32","slug":"appg-policy-report-outlines-uk-timber-construction-expansion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/mmc-news\/appg-policy-report-outlines-uk-timber-construction-expansion\/128660\/","title":{"rendered":"Timber Industries APPG policy report outlines UK timber construction expansion"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The APPG for the Timber Industries has released a new policy report titled \u2018Timber Construction: Barriers and Solutions\u2019, which looks into recommendations to expand low-carbon timber construction in the UK<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/mmc-news\/new-guidance-insurance-mass-timber-has-been-published\/125724\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Increasing timber construction<\/a> has been recommended by both the Climate Change Committee and Environmental Audit Committee. This will help the UK to achieve net zero by 2050.<\/p>\n<p>The report investigates the ways that the government can achieve this through policies that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Increase demand for sustainable timber<\/li>\n<li>Increase the resilience of timber supply<\/li>\n<li>Tackle misconceptions about building safety<\/li>\n<li>Expand low-carbon construction skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The<a href=\"https:\/\/cti-timber.org\/publications\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> APPG report<\/a> complements the work of the Timber in Construction Working Group.
