Winvic Construction will deliver the first phase of the West Midlands Interchange project near Wolverhampton<\/h2>\n

The West Midlands Interchange will cover 8m square feet of land, making it the UK\u2019s largest intermodal logistics site. The project is set for completion by 2034 and will cost around \u00a31bn.<\/p>\n

The West Midlands Interchange<\/a> revised planning permission in May 2020 and is being financed by Oxford Properties, who acquired the WMI site in July 2021.<\/p>\n

\u201cWinvic has worked for over twelve months as the design stage partner on West Midlands Interchange and with the fantastic relationships built with Oxford Properties and Logistics Capital Partners in that time, Winvic is primed to deliver the first phase of civil and infrastructure works,\u201d said Rob Cook, Winvic\u2019s director of civils and infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Construction will begin later this year with works on new road infrastructure. A new underground energy infrastructure will be installed, as well as new earthworks to develop plots and landscape zones.<\/p>\n

The West Midlands Interchange will create 8,500 new jobs and apprenticeships<\/h3>\n

Winvic<\/a> will also introduce an employment and skills plan to create opportunities for local people and businesses during the project. These include providing employment, apprenticeships, and trainee positions<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The City of Wolverhampton, South Staffordshire Council and Staffordshire County Council have already begun work with an employment fund steering group to maximise these opportunities.<\/p>\n

Winvic aim to protect the local environment and boost biodiversity<\/h3>\n

Communities close to the site have been consulted on the development of a 109-acre country parkland, which will be built to the northwest and southeast of the West Midlands Interchange. The park will provide a recreational space for locals, as well as benefit the area\u2019s biodiversity.<\/p>\n
