{"id":130269,"date":"2023-07-25T10:40:38","date_gmt":"2023-07-25T09:40:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=130269"},"modified":"2023-07-25T10:40:38","modified_gmt":"2023-07-25T09:40:38","slug":"homes-england-unveils-1bn-brownfield-infrastructure-and-land-fund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/homes-england-unveils-1bn-brownfield-infrastructure-and-land-fund\/130269\/","title":{"rendered":"Homes England unveils \u00a31bn Brownfield, Infrastructure and Land Fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Homes England has introduced the Brownfield, Infrastructure and Land Fund designed to support their partners and project in grant and equity activities<\/h2>\n<p>The aim of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/brownfield-infrastructure-and-land-fund\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brownfield, Infrastructure and Land Fund<\/a> is to improve housing-led opportunities which support economic growth and long-term housing supply.<\/p>\n<p>At least 60% of the fund will be focused on developing brownfield land.<\/p>\n<p>Homes England will invest around \u00a31bn to create 40,000 homes, 200,000 sqm of employment floorspace and to stimulate new levels of private sector investment.<\/p>\n<p>The majority of funding will go towards projects within the Greater London Authority, Greater Manchester, and West Midlands Combined Authority areas.<\/p>\n<p>Funds are expected to be accessed locally, following government-approved arrangements.<\/p>\n<h3>Local authorities can qualify for the Brownfield, Infrastructure and Land Fund if:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>They meet the strategic aims of the fund.<\/li>\n<li>The project would not progress without funding.<\/li>\n<li>New housing will be developed through the project.<\/li>\n<li>The project represents value for money.<\/li>\n<li>They are a UK-registered corporate entity, limited liability partnership, or English local authority or public entity.<\/li>\n<li>The project will be contracted by 31 March 2026.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>The housing secretary is also supporting new housing developments<\/h3>\n<p>Yesterday, housing secretary Michael Gove announced a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/goves-plans-relax-planning-rules-mixed-response\/130248\/\">\u00a324m plan to relax planning rules<\/a> for the development of new homes.<\/p>\n<p>The government aims to build one million homes between 2019-24.<\/p>\n<p>This is despite doubts from the Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Committee about achieving the target of 300,000 net new homes per year by the mid-2020s.<\/p>\n<p>However, prime minister Rishi Sunak backed the government&#8217;s commitment to delivering the required housing during his speech on Monday, 24 July.<\/p>\n<p>The proposals include a training fund to develop skills needed to increase housebuilding.
