Construction has been suspended at Everton Stadium following the death of worker, 26, who sustained severe head injuries at the Bramley-Moore Dock site on Monday<\/h2>\n

Merseyside police have confirmed that the 26-year-old man was injured at around 1 pm on Monday (14th August) at the Everton Stadium site.<\/p>\n

Emergency services arrived on site shortly after, but unfortunately, the man was declared dead shortly after he was taken to Aintree Hospital.<\/p>\n

Laing O\u2019Rourke is the main contractor on the \u00a3555m, 52,888-seater football stadium for Everton FC.<\/a><\/p>\n

In a statement from Everton FC, a spokesperson said:\u00a0“Everyone at Everton Football Club is heartbroken by the news a male worker has died following an incident at the Everton Stadium site at Bramley-Moore Dock.<\/p>\n

“The thoughts and condolences of everyone connected with Everton are with his family, friends, and colleagues at this unimaginably sad time.”<\/p>\n

In a statement yesterday, Laing O’Rourke commented: “We are shocked and saddened by today’s tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased man and our wider project team.<\/p>\n

“The police and the Health and Safety Executive<\/a> are on site and we have suspended work until further notice. We will cooperate fully with any investigation that follows.”<\/p>\n
