{"id":132363,"date":"2023-09-12T11:06:32","date_gmt":"2023-09-12T10:06:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=132363"},"modified":"2023-09-12T11:06:32","modified_gmt":"2023-09-12T10:06:32","slug":"mace-replace-buckingham-birmingham-city-stadium-works","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/projects\/mace-replace-buckingham-birmingham-city-stadium-works\/132363\/","title":{"rendered":"Mace to replace Buckingham on Birmingham City Stadium works"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>After Buckingham went into administration in August, several stadium developments such as the Birmingham City Stadium works were left seeking a new contractor<\/h2>\n<p>The works on Birmingham City Stadium will be completed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macegroup.com\/sectors-and-services\/consult\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mace Consult<\/a>, it has been announced.<\/p>\n<p>Birmingham City Football Club has appointed a new construction manager to oversee their stadium redevelopment, with a new estimated completion date of November 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Mace, which was already part of the project team, will see the stadium\u2019s capacity increased to 30,000.<\/p>\n<p>Work resumed on the Tilton Lower and Kop Lower stands yesterday, with the former now a few weeks behind schedule and the latter due to complete close to the original timescale.<\/p>\n<h3>Birmingham City will assume responsibility for the management of all subcontractors onsite<\/h3>\n<p>Birmingham City chief executive officer Garry Cook, said: \u201cOn behalf of all Blues fans I would like to thank the Mace team for stepping forward and helping us in our time of need.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy appointing Mace to the construction management role we have ensured we will be in a position to achieve our goal of having close to 30,000 Blues fans, in person at St. Andrew\u2019s, supporting the team later this autumn.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSubcontractors who have worked so hard to get us to this point will now have the opportunity to finish the work they have started. More than 50% of our subcontractors live in and around Birmingham so it is important that we have been able to get them back to work so quickly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would like to thank the Buckingham Group team members for their commitment and passion to the Birmingham City project. They are professionals who find themselves <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/buckingham-group-on-brink-administration\/131528\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in a challenging situation<\/a>. Our hope is that they all find new and rewarding opportunities in the very near future.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Continuing the Birmingham City Stadium works with minimal disruption<\/h3>\n<p>Managing director, property UK &amp; Europe, Mace consult, Dan Easthope, said: \u201cOver the coming weeks, Mace will be drawing on our global expertise in stadium and venue delivery, working closely with Birmingham City Football Club and all of the suppliers currently supporting the project to ensure that the remaining work can continue with the minimum of disruption.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough the circumstances are unfortunate, we\u2019re pleased that Birmingham City have put their faith in us.
