Morgan Sindall\u2019s Southern Home Counties division has completed work at Shoreham’s Southlands Hospital for University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust<\/h2>\n

The upgrade to Southlands Hospital has brought important services closer to the local community. A range of specialised medical equipment was installed as part of the project, including an MRI scanner, a CT scanner, two X-ray machines, and a chest X-ray machine.<\/p>\n

These improvements lead to earlier diagnoses in the local community, which align with the government’s plan for 40 new community diagnostic centres (CDCs) across England. These CDCs aim to provide approximately 2.8m scans in their first year of operation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe centre will be able to deliver diagnostics to over 45,000 patients in the first year, which will support cancer pathways, allowing earlier access away from the acute sites,\u201d said Jemma Deane, operational manager at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe pathway development work will aim to speed up the time from referral to a working diagnosis, which will also increase patient reassurance when they can be quickly stepped down from a query cancer pathway,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Southlands Hospital is primed for further improvement<\/h3>\n

Morgan Sindall<\/a> used an intelligent solutions approach to the project. The team designed and installed removable sections of the RF Cage walls in the MRI suite, enabling access for future upgrades while minimising disruption to essential services.<\/p>\n

As part of its commitment to benefiting local communities, Morgan Sindall hosted a group of T-Level students during the project, offering them valuable firsthand experience in the construction industry.<\/p>\n

The project was secured through the Pagabo framework<\/h3>\n

Morgan Sindall worked alongside Ward Williams Associates and Crowther Associates Architects on the project, which was procured through the Pagabo framework.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has been a pleasure to work with the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust for this vital project at Southlands Hospital. We have further strengthened the collaborative relationship we have developed with the Trust following the successful development at St Richard’s Hospital,\u201d said Guy Hannell, area director for Morgan Sindall Construction in the Southern Home Counties.<\/p>\n
