West Fraser<\/a> will sponsor Petroc<\/a> college’s carpentry department, providing SterlingOSB Zero and CaberMDF materials for students to work with<\/h2>\n

Petroc College’s carpentry department will be sponsored by West Fraser, in the company’s latest efforts to help fight the skills shortage in UK construction.<\/p>\n

Petroc’s carpentry courses cover all aspects of the construction process, from the initial erection of a new building, through to the installation of all necessary fixtures and fittings, as well as a range of repair and maintenance activities.<\/p>\n

West Fraser’s decision to sponsor Petroc is the latest development in their drive to support trades education<\/h3>\n

Serving roughly 11,000 students across three campuses, West Fraser’s sponsorship of carpentry courses will boost Petroc’s ability to train the next generation of carpenters and adjacent trades.<\/p>\n

The department, which provides courses for those aged 16 right up to mature students, will be supported with donations of SterlingOSB Zero<\/a> and CaberMDF<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The panels will be used by students studying for T-level qualifications and carpentry apprenticeships to create staircases and treads, small wooden tool storage boxes and to re-surface the workstations which need to be done annually.<\/p>\n

The ten carpentry and construction courses currently available at Petroc are open to 16-year-olds and mature students seeking to retrain.<\/p>\n
