Landlords have been encouraged to use a new framework to safeguard their homes against damp and mould<\/h2>\n

Fusion 21 has called for landlords to take action against damp and mould in response to the Social Housing Regulation Act<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Social Housing Regulation Act means that fast action from landlords is required when repairs are needed.<\/p>\n

Improving resident’s safety<\/h3>\n

Given the growing focus on damp and mould<\/a> within the housing sector, the new legislation will put pressure on housing providers.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot getting this right can lead to the serious consequences of failing to provide homes fit for habitation, including the potentially dangerous impacts damp and mould can have on residents,\u201d said Peter Francis, executive director of operations at Fusion21.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, it\u2019s understandable that this is a major issue, especially as we are now in the colder, damper months when problems are more likely to arise,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Landlords are advised to use Fusion21’s updated frameworks to meet changing standards for landlords and address the priorities of its members.<\/p>\n

Fusion21 has introduced a new Building Improvements Framework, valued at up to \u00a3346m over a four-year period. The framework contains nine distinct lots, specifically addressing issues related to dampness and mould.<\/p>\n

Addressing the many causes of damp and mould<\/h3>\n

The framework clarifies that dampness can be caused by various factors, not just condensation issues<\/a>, such as insulation, lack of ventilation, rising dampness and poor plumbing.<\/p>\n

Fusion21’s new Building Improvements Framework targets damp contractors in the supply chain, addressing the sector’s need for expertise in handling damp and mould issues. The framework also addresses day-to-day concerns regarding roofs, windows, doors, kitchens, bathrooms, landscaping, and adaptations.<\/p>\n

The framework aligns with proposed Standard updates based on member and supply chain feedback and will launch in January 2024.<\/p>\n
