Flour Corporation<\/a> has been chosen by H2 Green Steel<\/a> to provide engineering, procurement and construction management services at the world’s first renewable hydrogen-based integrated \u2018green steel\u2019 mill in Boden, Sweden<\/h2>\n

Once complete, the green steel mill will produce five million tonnes of steel annually by 2030, with up to 95% less CO2 emissions compared to steel produced<\/a> using traditional blast furnace technology.<\/p>\n

Flour will focus on providing services to the site’s melt shop and casting, rolling, and finishing facilities.<\/p>\n

The original price point for the green steel mill was announced at roughly \u20ac2.5bn but has since more than doubled.<\/p>\n

Power will be supplied on-site from one of the world\u2019s largest electrolyser hydrogen plants, which is part of the roughly \u20ac6.5bn project.<\/p>\n

H2 Green Steel signed a \u20ac250m grant agreement<\/h3>\n

H2 Green Steel recently signed a \u20ac250m grant agreement under the Innovation Fund through the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA).<\/p>\n

The Innovation Fund is financed by the European Union\u2019s Emissions Trading System and supports innovative projects that aim to speed up decarbonisation of European industry and accelerate the green transition.<\/p>\n

Construction of the mill has already begun<\/h3>\n

\u201cThe execution of the H2 Green Steel project will build on Fluor\u2019s long-term presence in the steel industry, our expertise in novel, low-emissions steelmaking technologies and our strong presence in Europe,\u201d said Harish Jammula, president of Fluor\u2019s Mining & Metals business line.<\/p>\n
