{"id":137619,"date":"2024-03-01T11:00:30","date_gmt":"2024-03-01T11:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=137619"},"modified":"2024-03-01T11:00:30","modified_gmt":"2024-03-01T11:00:30","slug":"new-study-finds-aec-firms-using-50-more-cloud-storage-before","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/digital-construction-news\/construction-software-news\/new-study-finds-aec-firms-using-50-more-cloud-storage-before\/137619\/","title":{"rendered":"New study finds AEC firms using 50% more cloud storage than before"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The AEC trends report from Egnyte found that data storage requirements at AEC companies have increased at a rate of 50.3% as cloud storage grows in popularity<\/h2>\n<p>The<a href=\"https:\/\/pages.egnyte.com\/AEC_data_insights_report.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> 2024 AEC Data Insights Report<\/a> from Egnyte shows that the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry is embracing the shift to cloud storage and other digital construction tools.<\/p>\n<p>The data storage requirements of the companies surveyed grew at an average compounded annual growth rate of 50.3%.<\/p>\n<p>Egynte observes that this rapid growth trend began during the pandemic, but as companies started to see the benefits of the cloud, growth has maintained that pace.<\/p>\n<p>Cloud storage and collaboration solutions have become an increasingly normalised part of the AEC industry workings- and can help meet new regulatory requirements, such as those of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Compliance (CMMC) in the United States and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/building-control-news\/building-safety-act-2022-golden-thread-construction-legislation\/128210\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Building Safety Act<\/a> in the UK.<\/p>\n<h3>Some of the key highlights include:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The construction industry leads the active collaboration category by far with a 29x increase in active collaboration over time.<\/li>\n<li>Data storage requirements have risen from an average of 3.34 terabytes in 2018 to 25.64 terabytes in 2023, representing a compound annual growth rate of 50.3%.<\/li>\n<li>The construction sector accounts for 60% of recurring IT issues in the AEC industry that could harm a company\u2019s infrastructure or productivity, likely due to the larger number of stakeholders and possibly to less stringent governance protocols.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Cloud storage is becoming a mainstay of modern AEC<\/h3>\n<p>The findings are based on data from more than 4,000 companies in Egnyte\u2019s customer base, which includes firms representing every stage of the AEC project lifecycle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe insights we gleaned from this year\u2019s report reflect the conversations we have with AEC firms on a daily basis. Companies are relying more heavily on digital collaboration to get the job done &#8211; a trend that shows no signs of slowing down,\u201d said Ronen Vengosh, senior vice president of Industry Solutions at Egnyte.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTheir increased reliance on cloud collaboration and file storage coupled with the high frequency of<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/digital-construction\/construction-technology-news\/importance-good-cybersecurity-practices-in-construction\/123212\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> cybersecurity threats<\/a> these firms encounter highlights the need for secure, reliable cloud collaboration solutions.\u201d<\/p>\n<div
