{"id":139434,"date":"2024-05-08T11:24:16","date_gmt":"2024-05-08T10:24:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=139434"},"modified":"2024-05-08T11:24:16","modified_gmt":"2024-05-08T10:24:16","slug":"sisk-moderna-facility-harwell-science-campus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/projects\/sisk-moderna-facility-harwell-science-campus\/139434\/","title":{"rendered":"Sisk to build Moderna vaccine facility at Harwell Science Campus"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.johnsiskandson.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sisk<\/a> has been selected by Moderna as its preferred bidder for the fit-out of its new vaccine facility\u00a0at the Harwell Science Campus in Oxfordshire<\/h2>\n<p>The new Moderna vaccine facility will provide\u00a0the UK public with access to mRNA vaccines for COVID-19 and potentially other emerging respiratory health threats.<\/p>\n<p>When complete, the facility will have the capacity to produce up to 250m vaccines per year in the event of a pandemic, bolstering the UK\u2019s future pandemic resilience strategy.<\/p>\n<h3>The vaccine facility is expected to become operational in 2025<\/h3>\n<p>Construction on site has already begun with the facility expected to become operational in 2025, subject to planning and regulatory approvals.<\/p>\n<p>Harwell is the UK&#8217;s leading science and innovation campus, where government, academia, and industry collaborate to solve the critical problems facing our planet.<\/p>\n<p>The campus is home to \u00a33bn national facilities and 6,000 colleagues committed to scientific discovery and understanding.<\/p>\n<h3>The facility will leverage mRNA technology to develop vaccines for the UK public<\/h3>\n<p>Donal McCarthy, COO of Life Sciences, Data &amp; Tech, Sisk, said: \u201cSisk is pleased to announce that it has won its first major life sciences project in the UK. We have a demonstrable track record of working with key US blue chip clients in Ireland and across Europe.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;After some key appointments internally, we now have the capability to bring this skillset to the UK.
