July<\/h2>\n<p>The new CGIs show how the rail link will look in the heart of Liverpool\u2019s Baltic Triangle.<\/p>\n<p>Work is expected to begin on site in 2025, and the station, subject to approval, is planned to open by the end of 2027.<\/p>\n<p>Councillor Nick Small, Liverpool City Council\u2019s cabinet member for growth and economy, said: \u201cThe next few years should define the future of the Baltic Triangle for decades to come and these new images and the pending public consultation is an exciting chapter in this unfolding story.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Virtual reality walkthrough to be unveiled within weeks<\/h3>\n<p>As part of the consultation, a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/digital-construction-news\/virtual-reality-journey-bentleys-itwin-infrastructure-software\/132585\/\">virtual reality<\/a> walkthrough will allow members of the public to immerse themselves in the new station and view its facilities.<\/p>\n<p>These include step-free access from the street to the train, passenger waiting facilities, fully accessible passenger toilets, secured monitored cycle parking, and links to an enhanced local active travel network.<\/p>\n<p>Information gathered from the engagement period between 3 June and 26 July will be used to finalise the designs ahead of the planning application.<\/p>\n<h3>One of four planned stations in Liverpool<\/h3>\n<p>The Liverpool Baltic station is one of four planned by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolcityregion-ca.gov.uk\/your-metro-mayor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Liverpool City Region Mayor Steve Rotheram<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Work on the pledged stations at Daresbury in Halton, Woodchurch on the Wirral, and Carr Mill in St Helens, is set to begin by the end of the decade.<\/p>\n<p>Rotheram said: \u201cLiverpool Baltic is just the first in a pipeline of new stations we will be delivering over the next few years to ensure we are connecting local people to each other and to the opportunities we are creating.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new stations are set to connect communities that are not reached by the current local rail network.<\/p>\n<p>It is hoped that the development will encourage more residents to travel by public transport instead of by
