{"id":141245,"date":"2024-07-01T15:46:23","date_gmt":"2024-07-01T14:46:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=141245"},"modified":"2024-07-01T15:46:23","modified_gmt":"2024-07-01T14:46:23","slug":"sheffields-suds-project-reduces-flood-risk-manor-fields-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/projects\/sheffields-suds-project-reduces-flood-risk-manor-fields-park\/141245\/","title":{"rendered":"Sheffield\u2019s SuDS project reduces flood risk at Manor Fields Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The SuDS project, designed to ease pressure on Sheffield\u2019s watercourse and sewer network, will reduce the flow of water in <a href=\"https:\/\/greenestate.org.uk\/sustainable-urban-drainage-scheme-suds-work-in-manor-fields-park\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manor Fields Park\u2019s<\/a> Kirkbridge Dyke<\/h2>\n<p>As part of the SuDS project, the team created a permanent shallow basin, which will hold small volumes of water.<\/p>\n<p>During a storm, the water level within the basin temporarily rises before being slowly released back into the watercourse.<\/p>\n<p>The new capacity created further downstream will then accommodate more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/suds-surface-water-flooding-england\/137445\/\">run-off water<\/a> from houses, roads, and pathways.<\/p>\n<h3>The project will benefit Manor Fields Park<\/h3>\n<p>The SuDS have created a wetland-type environment that will provide a haven for a diverse range of plants and animals.<\/p>\n<p>The project has also created new walking trails for visitors to the park.<\/p>\n<p>The new SuDS project will facilitate the development of 148 new homes in the Harborough Rise and Manor Park Avenue areas.<\/p>\n<p>Lee Noble, Britcon operations director, said: \u201cAs a local certified carbon neutral business, we are fully committed to improving environmental and biodiversity conditions.
