The Heat Network Efficiency Scheme<\/a> (HNES) has awarded \u00a32.7m of funding to English and Welsh heat networks in the sixth round of funding<\/h2>\n

The government’s HNES has completed its sixth round of funding, allocating \u00a32.7m of funding across English and Welsh heat networks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

To date, HNES has helped to improve heating and hot water supply across 192 projects representing 41,000 residents.<\/p>\n

33 heat networks have received funding in round six<\/h3>\n

The sixth round of funding has been approved for 33 projects, and an extra 1,945 residents.<\/p>\n

These projects will benefit from improved and optimised heating and cooling provision, through either direct capital funding for improvement works, or funding to support optimisation studies to identify to help project owners identify areas for improvement.<\/p>\n

Some notable projects benefitting from this round of funding include Resevoir and Watersreach, implementing improvements identified in round one of HNES funding.<\/p>\n

Universities in Worcester and Nottingham will receive funding<\/h3>\n

Minister for energy consumers, Miatta Fahnbulleh MP, said:<\/p>\n

“Today\u2019s \u00a32.7m funding boost will transform 33 old and inefficient heat networks across the country, adding to our support of more than 41,000 residents, ensuring they get what most of us take for granted.<\/p>\n

“This is part of our wider efforts through the Heat Network Efficiency Scheme \u2013 with more projects set to benefit in the near future.”<\/p>\n

Louise Singleton, principal consultant at Gemserv, said: \u00a0<\/strong>\u201cIt is great to see HNES continuing to provide vital funding to old, inefficient heat networks across England and Wales.<\/p>\n

“It is particularly encouraging to see applicants being proactive once receiving the output of their HNES funded optimisation studies. Projects are now being awarded capital funding to implement recommendations from these studies that will go on to improve outcomes for residents and occupants. We look forward to working with heat networks throughout England and Wales who plan to apply for HNES in future rounds after being inspired by demonstrated successes from our funded projects.”<\/p>\n
