{"id":149237,"date":"2025-03-05T11:39:32","date_gmt":"2025-03-05T11:39:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=149237"},"modified":"2025-03-05T11:39:32","modified_gmt":"2025-03-05T11:39:32","slug":"2025-hs2-graduate-programme-launches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/hr-skills-news\/2025-hs2-graduate-programme-launches\/149237\/","title":{"rendered":"2025 HS2 graduate programme launches"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>30 graduates will have the opportunity to join the programme in a range of disciplines<\/h2>\n<p>The HS2 graduate programme is looking for graduates to join their digital engineering, environment, finance, project management, project controls, procurement, digital analytics, asset management, and commercial teams.<\/p>\n<p>Programme participants will gain skills in working on major infrastructure project delivery.<\/p>\n<h3>The HS2 graduate programme will complete six-month rotational placements<\/h3>\n<p>The placements will be spread across the departments and allocated according to the graduate&#8217;s specialist subjects.<\/p>\n<p>There are currently 31,000 people in the HS2 workforce, working to deliver the HS2 rail.<\/p>\n<p>The HS2 graduate programme intends to introduce new skills and participants, joining the 117 graduates that have already completed the programme.<\/p>\n<p>HS2 has completed several major milestones in recent months, including the first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/projects\/video-first-hs2-twin-bore-tunnel-completes-civil-engineering-phase\/148974\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">twin bore tunnel<\/a> to finish the civil engineering phase, the sliding of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/projects\/video-hs2-small-dean-viaduct-slid-position-just-four-days\/148055\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Small Dean viaduct<\/a> into position in just four days, and the pouring of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/projects\/over-half-hs2s-concrete-west-midlands-poured\/145747\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">over half of the concrete in the West Midlands<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>\u201cThe sheer scale and significance of HS2 makes it a great place to learn\u201d<\/h3>\n<p>Comments have been gathered from former participants in previous HS2 graduate programmes:<\/p>\n<h4>Harry Fellows, 25, from Solihull:<\/h4>\n<p>\u201cAs I live in Solihull, it\u2019s been great to get involved in the preparatory works for Interchange Station. I\u2019m currently helping to plan the geotechnical works and topographical surveys.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVariety is definitely one of the best things about the graduate programme and if you\u2019re ambitious, and seek out opportunities, there is so much you can get involved in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHS2 is passionate about investing in future talent, and for me, this role is about investing in Britain\u2019s future.\u201d<\/p>\n<h4>Kirsty O\u2019Leary, 24, from Buckinghamshire:<\/h4>\n<p>\u201cI joined HS2\u2019s graduate scheme in September 2023 and I couldn\u2019t have wished for a more varied or exciting role. The development opportunities are brilliant, and it\u2019s fascinating to learn how the pieces of the puzzle fit together to build and maintain a new railway of this scale.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithout doubt, the best part of the role is the diverse range of people and industry professionals you get to meet. Knowledge-sharing is key, and I\u2019ve learnt so much from the people that work here and have invested their time to support early career professionals\u201d<\/p>\n<h4>Frank Wagner, 27, from Coventry:<\/h4>\n<p>\u201cHS2\u2019s graduate programme has enabled me to put the theory element of my Business degree into practice and without doubt, this role has helped to build my confidence and knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve worked on some really great projects so far, including preparing for the arrival of Solihull\u2019s Interchange Station and the new A46 underbridge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe support for graduates has been great, and I\u2019ve appreciated having a mentor and course lead to help me develop my project management skills. From site visits to networking and learning events, the opportunities are huge and varied.\u201d<\/p>\n<h4>Noorjahan Pallikkandi Maliyekal, 39, from Southam:<\/h4>\n<p>\u201cBeing part of the HS2 graduate scheme has been an incredible journey and from day one I\u2019ve felt supported by my colleagues. The structured rotations and learning opportunities have helped me to develop my skills, and the support from my mentor and buddy has made a big difference, making it easier to step into such a fast-paced industry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the most exciting parts has been working with the Track project controls team and seeing the real impact of my work on this huge project.
