{"id":150398,"date":"2025-04-16T10:34:33","date_gmt":"2025-04-16T09:34:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=150398"},"modified":"2026-01-14T15:08:50","modified_gmt":"2026-01-14T15:08:50","slug":"celsa-steel-uk-acquired-by-czech-firm-rebrands-to-7-steel-uk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/celsa-steel-uk-acquired-by-czech-firm-rebrands-to-7-steel-uk\/150398\/","title":{"rendered":"Celsa Steel UK acquired by Czech billionaire, rebrands to 7 Steel UK"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Czech-based Sev.en Global Investments has expanded its portfolio with the acquisition of Celsa Nordic and Celsa Steel UK, both of which will operate under the &#8216;unified brand umbrella&#8217; of <a href=\"https:\/\/7-steel.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">7 Steel<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>Celsa\u2019s Spanish parent company sold off the UK and Nordic arms to Sev.en Global Investments as part of a wider restructuring drive to reduce debts and refocus on business in Spain.<\/p>\n<p>Celsa Nordic will become 7 Steel Nordic.<\/p>\n<p>The Cardiff-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/health-safety-news\/celsa-manufacturing-fined\/64293\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Celsa Steel plant<\/a> runs the country\u2019s last remaining electric arc furnace for rod and produces around 1.2m tonnes of rebar and steel products annually using UK-sourced scrap.<\/p>\n<p>The acquisition has also brought Celsa Steel UK-owned fabrication firms BRC, Express Reinforcements and ROM Group under 7 Steel, providing the new company with four scrap yards and 17 fabricator depots.<\/p>\n<h3>The deal is estimated to be worth around \u20ac600m (\u00a3514m)<\/h3>\n<div style=\"width: 696px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-150398-1\" width=\"696\" height=\"696\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/uk_3.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/uk_3.mp4\">https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/uk_3.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p>Carles Rovira, chief executive of 7 Steel UK, said: &#8220;This marks an exciting new chapter for our business. The Group already owns UK power generation company InterGen, with 4 gas-fired power stations: Coryton, Spalding, Rocksavage, and Spalding Energy Expansion.<\/p>\n<p>Other brands under the Sev.en umbrella include American met-coal mining company Blackhawk Mining (annual coal production of around 9m tonnes), Golden Eagle Land Company (which holds mining rights to more than 2bn tonnes of coal reserves), and a variety of Australian mining companies.<\/p>\n<p>Alan Svoboda, chief executive of Sev.en Global Investments, said: &#8220;It is part of our strategy to enter new industries, and we believe that steel is a long-term sound investment.
