{"id":152570,"date":"2025-06-26T13:57:52","date_gmt":"2025-06-26T12:57:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=152570"},"modified":"2025-06-26T13:57:52","modified_gmt":"2025-06-26T12:57:52","slug":"construction-skills-mission-board-help-recruit-extra-100000-workers-2029","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/uncategorized\/construction-skills-mission-board-help-recruit-extra-100000-workers-2029\/152570\/","title":{"rendered":"Construction Skills Mission Board to help recruit extra 100,000 workers by 2029"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Established by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionleadershipcouncil.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Construction Leadership Council<\/a>, the Board will support the government&#8217;s \u00a3625m investment to recruit an additional 100,000 workers by the end of this Parliament<\/h2>\n<p>Senior leaders from across construction and Government ministers such as deputy prime minister Angela Rayner and work and pensions secretary Liz Kendall signed the agreement earlier this week at the inaugural Construction Skills Mission Board meeting, committing millions of pounds of funding to boosting the UK&#8217;s workforce.<\/p>\n<h3>The actions will focus on five key areas to drive increased recruitment:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>confidence to employ and invest;<\/li>\n<li>clear new entrant pathways;<\/li>\n<li>access to provision &amp; support to train;<\/li>\n<li>funding that works; and<\/li>\n<li>reliable and rewarding careers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Any organisation that would like to support the Construction Skills Mission Board is encouraged to do so through engagement with their relevant trade body.<\/p>\n<h3>&#8220;It is vital that we now step up as a sector&#8221;<\/h3>\n<p>Mark Reynolds, co-chair of the Construction Leadership Council and co-chair of the Construction Skills Mission Board, said: \u201cWe have seen real ambition from the Government through its commitment to 1.5 million new homes, clean power by 2030, and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/construction-industry-reacts-new-infrastructure-strategy\/152422\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">renewal of our public infrastructure<\/a>; and that ambition has been backed by significant funding commitments around skills. Construction will be essential to delivering growth and investment across the UK; and so it is vital that we now step up as a sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Construction Skills Mission Board represents a new partnership between industry and government, working together to find industry-led, collaborative solutions to delivering the<br \/>\nworkforce of the future. I am delighted that we have seen such strong support from Ministers and some of the most important leaders in our sector \u2013 and I hope everyone will play their part in the delivery of this essential mission.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Industry minister and CLC co-chair Sarah Jones said: \u201cWe&#8217;re determined to get Britain building again, which is why we backed the construction sector with over \u00a3625m earlier this year to train the next generation of workers and have followed this up with \u00a3275m for skills in our modern Industrial Strategy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The agreement signed today is another vital step towards our target of 1.5 million homes, as part of our Plan for Change.
