The move is part of a wider strategy to promote safer, more sustainable, and climate-resilient construction practices throughout the region.<\/p>\n<h3>Key benefits for African PEIs include:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Free access to IStructE\u2019s technical manuals and guides, including materials on seismic design and safe concrete and steel structures.<\/li>\n<li>100+ live and on-demand webinars and CPD events.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tools and courses related to low-carbon design, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Structural Carbon Tool Embodied carbon calculation guides<\/li>\n<li>On-demand training in carbon-conscious design.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Discounted IStructE Affiliate and Graduate membership, with free Student membership also promoted locally.<\/p>\n<p>Yasmin Becker, CEO of IStructE, said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe IStructE\u2019s mission is rooted in a simple but powerful goal: to ensure that the structures built around the world are safe, resilient, and sustainable. We all agree that sharing global best practice and guidance is essential to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/world-green-building-council-launches-manifesto-sustainable-built-environment-in-africa\/118041\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">build and sustain a safe built environment<\/a> that can withstand climate change, now and in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Addressing rapid urban growth<\/h3>\n<p>The OECD projects that Africa\u2019s population will double by 2050, reaching 2.2 billion, with two-thirds living in urban centres <span lang=\"EN\"><i>(Source: OECD, <\/i><\/span><a title=\"https:\/\/www.oecd.org\/content\/dam\/oecd\/en\/publications\/support-materials\/2025\/03\/africa-s-urbanisation-dynamics-2025_005a8aa0\/AUD%202024_Key%20messages-3March-A5.pdf\" href=\"https:\/\/www.oecd.org\/content\/dam\/oecd\/en\/publications\/support-materials\/2025\/03\/africa-s-urbanisation-dynamics-2025_005a8aa0\/AUD%202024_Key%20messages-3March-A5.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i><span lang=\"EN\">\u201cAfrica\u2019s urbanisation dynamics<\/span><\/i><\/a><i><span lang=\"EN\">\u201d, March 2025.)<\/span><\/i> This exponential growth is already driving significant construction demand\u2014from residential and commercial buildings to vital infrastructure. The Knowledge Partnership aims to equip local engineers with the expertise needed to meet these challenges while aligning with global safety and sustainability standards.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sanzan Diarra, CEO of the Zimbabwean Institution of Engineers, adds:<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI am delighted to see the IStructE\u2019s Pan-African Structural Engineering Knowledge Partnership being delivered.
