A major milestone has been reached in the development of the new Broad Marsh Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in Nottingham, with Henry Brothers appointed as the main contractor for the build<\/h2>\n

Enabling work is expected to begin at the end of this month at Lister Gate, following the signing of contracts with\u00a0Homes England<\/a> and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH)<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Arup are the structural and civil engineers on the scheme, which has been designed by Leonard Design.<\/p>\n

The site’s location, complexity, and presence of asbestos have resulted in a project design and evaluation process that has taken longer than average.<\/p>\n

Funded by the Department for Health and Social Care<\/h3>\n

The centre is one of many being funded by the Department for Health and Social Care and is set to open later in 2026.<\/p>\n

Homes England will act as landlords while NUH will run the centre and provide staff.<\/p>\n

The purpose of the Nottingham Community Diagnostic Centre is to provide locals with easier access to diagnostic tools, including MRI, CT, x-ray, ultrasound, echocardiography, ECG, and lung function testing, outside of the hospital. This will make it more accessible for residents, while also reducing the load and wait times at the hospital, easing the burden on clinicians.<\/p>\n

Health Minister, Karin Smyth, said: \u201cThe Broad Marsh Community Diagnostic Centre will make a real difference to patients, delivering faster diagnoses and helping reduce waiting times, all closer to home.<\/p>\n

\u201cIts location, in Nottingham City Centre, will make getting tests, checks or scans simpler and more convenient, something we\u2019re replicating across the country through centres like this one.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy bringing vital healthcare services into the community, we\u2019re making diagnosis and treatment more accessible for everyone. Thanks to the investment and reform our Plan for Change is delivering, the government is cutting waiting times and building an NHS fit for the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are really excited to have reached this key stage in the development\u201d<\/h3>\n

NUH\u2019s deputy medical director, Mark Simmonds, said: \u201cWe have been working very hard with our partners over the last year to get us into this position of readiness, and we are really excited to have reached this key stage in the development.<\/p>\n

\u201cEarlier diagnosis is better for everyone, and this centre will be vital in reducing the number of people in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire waiting longer for diagnostic tests. It will also enable patients to access these tests in a community setting without needing to travel to a hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amanda Sullivan, chief executive at NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, added: \u201cOur CDC will not only help to improve the health of the local population and meet the growing demand for diagnostic services, but it will also help free up capacity in our hospitals, providing a better patient experience for many more people across our hospital sites.\u201d<\/p>\n

The NHS is currently set to see a lot of construction in the coming years with the revealed continuation of their modular buildings framework<\/a>, a new fire safety procurement framework<\/a>, and a search for contractors for the new hospital programme.<\/a><\/p>\n
