Kier has signed a \u00a3139m contract to upgrade the Wanlip Sewage Treatment Works in Leicestershire. At the same time, Andrew Davies, CEO, has announced his retirement<\/h2>\n

The Wanlip Sewage Treatment Works require upgrades to meet the growing demands of the 750,000 residents, as well as to comply with environmental standards.<\/p>\n

Work will be undertaken to increase the dry weather flow capacity by 24%, while full flow to treatment capacity will also be increased by around 20%.<\/p>\n

Wanlip Sewage Treatment is Severn Trent\u2019s<\/a> third-largest wastewater facility<\/h3>\n

The Wanlip Sewage Treatment Works is a part of Severn Trent\u2019s Green Recovery programme, of which Kier has been an active part of for over 20 years, working in sustainable construction<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The project will build on an early contractor involvement phase which saw enabling works and design development. Work will start this summer, with plans to complete in 2028.<\/p>\n

Andrew Bradshaw, group managing director at Kier Natural Resources, Nuclear & Networks, said: “We\u2019re extremely pleased to be delivering this major project for Severn Trent Water. Our continued involvement as we move into the Asset Management Period 8 cycle reflects the strength and success of our long-standing relationship. We look forward to building on this momentum and continuing to deliver critical infrastructure together.”<\/p>\n

Kier CEO announces retirement<\/h3>\n

Yesterday, Andrew Davies, the chief executive for Kier, announced he will be stepping down in October, making way for Stuart Togwell to take over. Togwell is currently the group managing director of construction.<\/p>\n

Davies has been the CE for six years, and has overseen the group breaking back into the FTSE 250 index, and an order book worth over \u00a311bn.<\/p>\n

The news also comes ahead of the Kier Group\u2019s trading update at the end of this month, in which there is a forecasted 22% increase of year-end cash position, from \u00a3167m to \u00a3204m.<\/p>\n

Andrew Davies said: \u201cIt has been an absolute privilege to lead Kier and to transform the group into a strong and sustainable business that benefits all stakeholders. I want to thank all the colleagues for their support, hard work and commitment over the last six years in building the foundations to ensure Kier remains a leading infrastructure services, construction and property company that is vital to the UK and is better placed than ever to succeed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stuart Togwell said: \u201cI am honoured to be appointed as the next chief executive and look forward to working with Kier\u2019s exceptional teams to drive success and growth and deliver for our customers, our communities and this industry that I am so passionate about.\u201d<\/p>\n
