{"id":156020,"date":"2025-10-13T10:47:34","date_gmt":"2025-10-13T09:47:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=156020"},"modified":"2025-10-13T10:47:34","modified_gmt":"2025-10-13T09:47:34","slug":"three-companies-win-contracts-2-9bn-infrastructure-delivery-partnership-sellafield","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/three-companies-win-contracts-2-9bn-infrastructure-delivery-partnership-sellafield\/156020\/","title":{"rendered":"Three companies win contracts to be part of \u00a32.9bn Infrastructure Delivery Partnership at Sellafield"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Costain, Morgan Sindall Infrastructure and HOCHTIEF(UK) Construction have signed contracts worth a total of \u00a32.9bn as part of a Infrastructure Delivery Partnership (IDP)<\/h2>\n<p>The IDP will deliver supporting works on the Sellafield site, with responsibilities split across three lots:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Civils \u2013 HOCHTIEF UK<\/li>\n<li>Utilities \u2013 Costain<\/li>\n<li>Electrical distribution \u2013 Morgan Sindall Infrastructure<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Contracts will initially run for nine years, with options to extend up to a further six years.<\/p>\n<h3>The IDP will replace the existing Infrastructure Strategic Alliance<\/h3>\n<p>Sellafield chief supply chain officer James Riddick said: \u201cOur job at Sellafield is to create a clean and safe environment for future generations. That means safely, securely, and cost effectively dealing with the legacy of historic operations on our site. To deliver this we need robust and reliable infrastructure to support our nuclear decommissioning and waste management activities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIDP is a long-term strategic partnership designed to provide that support while unlocking investment and opportunities for our local community and delivering sustainable value for money to the taxpayer.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Morgan Sindall will deliver new electrical works with desing partners Baker Hicks and GHD<\/h3>\n<p>Morgan Sindall infrastructure will complete detail design plus all procurement, installation, construction, commissioning, and handover activities that form part of project delivery.<\/p>\n<p>Simon Smith, managing director, Morgan Sindall Infrastructure, commented: &#8220;We have been delivering in West Cumbria for over 15 years, and we are delighted to build on this further with the award of the Infrastructure Delivery Partnership. This long-term programme is not only nationally significant for Sellafield and its decommissioning programme, but we know first-hand the benefits to local communities and the\u202fregion from an award of this nature.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Continuing Costain&#8217;s relationship with the Sellafield site<\/h3>\n<p>Costain has worked with Sellafield since 2005, including on the Evaporator D project and as part of the Decommissioning Delivery Partnership.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis new contract award with Sellafield, with whom we have been working with since 2005, is testament to our strategy of developing long-term relationships with tier 1 customers, building strong and collaborative partnerships, broadening our service offering, and maintaining consistency and continuity of workflows, &#8221; said Alex Vaughn, chief executive officer at Costain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis long-term award further demonstrates our integral position in the UK\u2019s civil nuclear energy market.
