Public transport, infrastructure, and new homes are being funded by the agency in London<\/h2>\n

The Homes England infrastructure grant has been awarded to Transport for London (TfL)<\/a> to develop two brownfield sites at Thamesmead Waterfront and Beckton Riverside.<\/p>\n

This will include bus links for new housing as well as upgrading existing bus corridors linking Thamesmead to the Abbey Wood and Woolwich Elizabeth lines.<\/p>\n

The work will be undertaken as part of the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) extension<\/h3>\n

The work precedes the completion of the DLR extension as the new bus links will be vital for the up to 30,000 new homes across two communities being built. The communities will span 145 hectares in Newham and Greenwich, making readily available public transit essential.<\/p>\n

Homes England is supporting the DLR extension along with TfL, Greater London Authority, the London Borough of Newham, Royal Borough of Greenwich, Department for Transport, (DfT) and the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG)<\/p>\n

Housing secretary, Steve Reed, said: \u201cThe DLR extension to Thamesmead is a perfect example of how this government is making the economy grow faster.<\/p>\n

\u201cBetter public transport links open up land for thousands of new homes, creating good jobs and connecting people to the opportunities just a short journey away in the heart of capital. We\u2019re not just building 1.5 million homes but ensuring communities like Thamesmead are finally receiving the investment and infrastructure they\u2019ve been promised for decades.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amy Rees CB, chief executive of Homes England, said: \u201cThis collaboration is just one example of how local and national organisations are working together, combining expertise and resources, to create communities with the homes and infrastructure that people need to thrive and grow.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are proud to work with local leaders, mayors and partners across the country, to help everybody have a safe, secure place to call home within sustainable, flourishing communities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alex Williams, TfL\u2019s chief customer and strategy officer, said: \u201cThis funding marks an important step towards delivering better transport connections for Thamesmead and Beckton Riverside. By improving bus links now and progressing plans for the DLR extension, we\u2019re helping unlock thousands of new homes and creating sustainable communities with the transport infrastructure they need to thrive.\u201d<\/p>\n

Homes England are making partnerships for housing delivery<\/h3>\n

Last month,<\/a> Homes England established a partnership with Swiss life Asset Managers and Capital&Centric to build a further 2,250 homes across England, equal to \u00a3860m across a decade.<\/p>\n

The investments from this partnership will be focused on areas that have seen less investment in the past.<\/p>\n

At the time, Steve Reed, secretary of state for housing, communities and local government, said: \u201cWe will get Britain building again by backing brilliant homegrown developers like Capital&Centric, and bringing in major institutional investors like Swiss Life Asset Managers, to build the homes this country desperately needs.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are pulling every lever to fix the housing crisis and its exactly this kind of deal that will help us build the 1.5 million homes, faster, and in the communities that need them most.\u201d<\/p>\n
