{"id":158101,"date":"2026-01-05T14:04:34","date_gmt":"2026-01-05T14:04:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=158101"},"modified":"2026-01-05T14:04:34","modified_gmt":"2026-01-05T14:04:34","slug":"national-timber-systems-saved-from-administration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/mmc-news\/national-timber-systems-saved-from-administration\/158101\/","title":{"rendered":"National Timber Systems saved from administration"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The company has been bought by Premier Forest Products, saving it from administration, which it entered in November last year<\/h2>\n<p>National Timber Systems (NTS) will continue operations with their customers and manufacturing footprint, under Premier Forest Products instead of the former National Timber Group UK.<\/p>\n<p>This has saved 160 jobs, with plans to now grow that number to 250 jobs.<\/p>\n<h3>NTS provides supplies for regional and national housebuilders<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/timber-in-construction-roadmap-2025\/timber-in-construction-roadmap-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Especially valuable for the modular sector,<\/a> NST offers a panelised roof system, trusses, joists, and roof and floor cassette solutions.<\/p>\n<p>Terry Edgell, co-founder and chief executive officer of Premier Forest Products, said: \u201cWith our strategic experience in timber and long-term financial stability, we see National Timber Systems as an excellent fir for Premier Forest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNTS aligns with and enhances our existing Mon Timber Engineering offer within the Premier group, and broadens our engineered timber solutions for customers across the UK.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis acquisition will help support faster, more efficient housebuilding and modular construction through continued product innovation and the potential for additional manufacturing capacity in the future\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Nick Kershaw, managing director of National Timber Systems, said: \u201cI am delighted to be joining such a well-established timber distribution and manufacturing specialist. Premier Forest has a strong reputation for quality and service, and we see them as an excellent cultural fit, enabling NTS to continue to grow and develop.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn behalf of my team, I would like to thank Premier Forest Products for the trust and confidence they have shown in NTS and its senior leadership team. We look forward to achieving further growth in 2026 and beyond\u201d.<\/p>\n<h3>Many companies were not so lucky<\/h3>\n<p>The construction industry is consistently high in the number of administrations or failed businesses, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/hr-skills-news\/construction-administrations-make-up-10-total\/153013\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">data from Shakespeare Martineau<\/a> showing that 10% of businesses which entered administration in the first half of 2025 were construction businesses.<\/p>\n<p>This means that in the first six months of 2025, 79 construction companies filed for administration. This rate is 3% higher than in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of the data being released, Andy Taylor, partner and head of restructuring at Shakespeare Martineau, said: \u201cWhile the year-on-year drop in administrations is worthy of note, the overall picture for business remains challenging.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>PBC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/hr-skills-news\/2025-administrations-keep-up-with-latest-construction-companies-collapse\/147257\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kept a running list<\/a> over the course of 2025 of several key construction companies that could not stay afloat throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p>This includes the National Timber Group England, of which National Timber Solutions was a part.
