{"id":158382,"date":"2026-01-16T10:02:41","date_gmt":"2026-01-16T10:02:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=158382"},"modified":"2026-01-16T10:02:41","modified_gmt":"2026-01-16T10:02:41","slug":"new-town-homes-expansion-confirmed-homes-england","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/new-town-homes-expansion-confirmed-homes-england\/158382\/","title":{"rendered":"New town homes expansion confirmed by Homes England"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>In partnership with Summix, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/homes-england\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Homes England<\/a> has confirmed that two planning applications in Wychavon Town have been given validation<\/h2>\n<p>The Wychavon Town new homes expansion will add 5,500 homes to the new settlement, in the town centre and a neighbourhood in the south.<\/p>\n<p>The applications have been validated, meaning the council can now formally consider the proposals and the statutory consultation process can begin.<\/p>\n<h3>Wychavon Town has not yet been built<\/h3>\n<p>Currently in the planning and public consultation phase, Wychavon Town is expected to be completed by around 2041. The town will be located in Worcestershire.<\/p>\n<p>The 5,500 new homes from Homes England and Summix will make up a large part of the allocation for 10,000 homes in the South Worcestershire Development Plan Review.<\/p>\n<p>Ben Frodsham, head of planning and enabling at Homes England, said: \u201cThe submission of outline planning applications for 5,500 new homes, a new town centre and supporting infrastructure is a significant milestone in the delivery of Wychavon Town. It represents many years of collaboration with our partners Summix, the local councils, and Worcestershire County Council. This is an important step towards delivering a high-quality new settlement that will help meet housing needs over the next 40 years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Peter Bateman, planning director at Summix, said: \u201cThese two outline applications represent a pivotal moment in moving from plan- making to delivery. Together they establish a comprehensive framework for a new settlement at Worcestershire Parkway, now known as Wychavon Town, and demonstrate our long-term commitment, alongside Homes England, to delivering a sustainable, economically productive and well-connected new community.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Homes England are funding housebuilders as well as homes<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/homes-england-financing-package-fund-sme-housebuilders\/158293\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Earlier this month,<\/a> Homes England announced a financing package of \u00a3165m for Allison Homes, along with HSBC and NatWest, to build new homes in the Midlands and Southwest.<\/p>\n<p>This investment is to strengthen Allison Homes\u2019 land pipeline and boost the growth of their operations up to around 2,000 homes per year.<\/p>\n<p>Simon Century, chief investment officer at Homes England, said: \u201cSmall and medium housebuilders play a vital role in building a diverse and resilient housing sector.
