Donegal Mica & Pyrite Redress<\/h3>\n

Working closely with structural engineer Noel McGahn of Micah Engineering, Amvic proposed a practical and effective rebuild solution using its Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) system.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

In Donegal, a region severely impacted by defective concrete blocks containing mica and pyrite, homeowners face difficult choices about how to rebuild their homes safely and affordably.<\/p>\n

This project removed only the damaged external leaf, preserved internal finishes, and integrated upgraded thermal detailing \u2014 achieving structural integrity without requiring the homeowners to vacate.<\/p>\n

Working closely with structural engineer Noel McGahn of Micah Engineering, Amvic proposed a practical and effective rebuild solution using its Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) system.<\/p>\n

Bishopslough, Kilkenny<\/h3>\n

The collaboration between Amvic ICF and Wallace Contracting at the Bishopslough residential development in Kilkenny showcases a modern approach to tackling construction challenges.<\/p>\n

Using Amvic\u2019s insulated concrete form (ICF) system, this project addresses critical industry issues such as labour shortages, the demand for faster build times, and stringent energy performance standards \u2014 all while setting new benchmarks for construction efficiency.<\/p>\n

  • Walls for a 50m\u00b2 duplex can be erected in under one week.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Sion Road, Kilkenny<\/h3>\n

      The Sion Road project involved the construction of a two-storey, open-plan residence with significant structural spans, seamless load-bearing wall integration, and enhanced thermal efficiency.<\/p>\n

      The design prioritised a balance between aesthetics and function, featuring expansive interior spaces, reinforced structural components, and robust detailing.<\/p>\n

      Amvic ICF was selected for its high load-bearing capacity, superior thermal performance, and its ability to integrate seamlessly with engineered components such as RSJs (Rolled Steel Joists), posi-joists, and structural reinforcements.<\/p>\n

        Completed in 2025, this ambitious development features 98 residential units, including semi-detached homes, terraces, and community facilities such as a cr\u00e8che.<\/p>\n

        Developed by Chris Dunne of Burkeen Homes and designed by architect PJ Sutton, Burkeen Dales demonstrates the advantages of Amvic Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF).<\/p>\n

        ICF Walls with Brick-Slip Finish: Amvic ICF walls were finished with a brick-slip fa\u00e7ade, achieving the visual appeal of traditional masonry while delivering superior insulation and durability.<\/p>\n

        Fox Meadows<\/h3>\n

        Fox Meadows is a residential development comprising 126 high-performance homes, initiated in December 2021 by Clancy Homes.<\/p>\n

        Designed by GMA and structurally engineered by NJD Consulting Engineers, the project aimed to balance architectural appeal, robust construction quality, and environmental sustainability \u2014 while adhering to a tight schedule and budget.<\/p>\n

        To achieve these goals, Clancy Homes selected Amvic ICF as the core building solution due to its performance, efficiency, and long-term benefits.<\/p>\n

        Conventional construction methods, such as timber frame or masonry, struggled to deliver on all these fronts simultaneously. Amvic ICF was chosen as the ideal solution to address these challenges.<\/p>\n

        Karls Bande Hotel, D\u00f6beln, Germany<\/h3>\n

        VBC<\/h4>\n

        VBC manufactured and fitted out 50 hotel bedrooms offsite. The steel-framed modular structure was installed on prepared foundations, with above-ground works completed in only 12 weeks.<\/p>\n

        A total of 40 steel-framed modules were required to construct the hotel, weighing up to 22 tonnes each. These were fully manufactured and fitted out \u2014 including glazing and bespoke external cladding \u2014 at VBC\u2019s European offsite manufacturing centre in Poland.<\/p>\n

        Steel-framed modules were engineered in-house and factory-fitted with furniture, MEP services, bathrooms, and finishes, with quality control at every stage to deliver guest-ready rooms.<\/p>\n

        Modular does not mean \u201cone-size-fits-all\u201d \u2014 it means better built, faster, and fully bespoke.<\/p>\n

        The precision-manufactured modules arrived pre-finished, allowing installation in days with minimal disruption, maximum speed, and perfect alignment.<\/p>\n

        All 40 modules were delivered and installed within a 7-day window.<\/p>\n

          This project is a strong example of partnership and collaboration, with Saint-Gobain supporting Procon Modular on this and other developments.<\/p>\n

          Using off-site manufacturing ensures speed, efficiency, programme certainty, and quality, while significantly reducing waste.<\/p>\n
