{"id":160122,"date":"2026-03-11T10:42:04","date_gmt":"2026-03-11T10:42:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=160122"},"modified":"2026-03-11T10:42:16","modified_gmt":"2026-03-11T10:42:16","slug":"gmca-makes-brownfield-investment-worth-1-6m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/gmca-makes-brownfield-investment-worth-1-6m\/160122\/","title":{"rendered":"GMCA makes brownfield investment worth \u00a31.6m"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greatermanchester-ca.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Greater Manchester Combined Authority<\/a> (GMCA) is supporting the building of new and affordable housing in the area<\/h2>\n<p>Developers are set to benefit from the brownfield investment, including Capital&amp;Centric.<\/p>\n<p>The GMCA is funding housing delivery throughout the city and wider region.<\/p>\n<h3>Investment is going into the city centre and Piccadilly East<\/h3>\n<p>Capital&amp;Centric is putting its funds towards Ferrous, a rental scheme featuring 107 new homes set to begin construction this year in Piccadilly East. 15% of these will be affordable homes with a discount on market rent.<\/p>\n<p>This will include a pocket park with mature trees and an architectural kiosk for an independent food or drink vendor.<\/p>\n<p>The development is being built on a site that was formerly used by Transport for Greater Manchester, and is an example of the brownfield opportunities present in the region.<\/p>\n<p>Tom Wilmot, joint managing director at Capital&amp;Centric, said: \u201cThe GMCA funding is helping unlock new homes on a challenging city centre site while allowing us to deliver affordable homes as part of the scheme.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve also carved out space for greenery and an independent operator because small pockets of public space make a massive difference. In a post-industrial city you have to go big on planting.
