efficiency, sustainability and safety benefits for a key project<\/h2>\n<p>Part of a landmark <a href=\"https:\/\/eastcoastcluster.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">East Coast Cluster<\/a> carbon capture project in Teesside, the technology eliminates formwork and enables precise, repeatable production of 3D printed concrete sleepers.<\/p>\n<p>Northern Endurance Partnership\u2019s (NEP) onshore CO<sub>2<\/sub>\u202fgathering system will provide the CO<sub>2<\/sub> transportation and storage infrastructure for Teesside-based carbon capture projects.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Howard, programme director at Costain, explained: \u201cHyperion\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/mmc-news\/how-3d-printed-geopolymer-concrete-transform-construction-europe\/153535\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">3D printing solution<\/a> will provide a myriad of efficiency, sustainability and safety benefits for this important project, while at the same time support economic growth and prosperity across Teesside.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>3D printed concrete reduces carbon emissions by up to 50%<\/h3>\n<p>The collaboration will produce approximately 90 high-strength 3D printed concrete pipe support bases along 1.3km of onshore CO<sub>2<\/sub> pipelines across Teesside using its advanced robotic manufacturing and digital technology.<\/p>\n<p>This approach, when compared to traditional precast solutions, will require less soil excavation, reduce concrete and steel use by 40% and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/energy-news\/worlds-first-bridge-made-with-co%E2%82%82-neutral-concrete-revealed\/158579\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">carbon emissions by up to 50%<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The engineering-led solution is up to ten times stronger than traditional structures despite being up to 60% lighter thanks to a thin, reinforced base design.<\/p>\n<p>This will enable faster and safer installation of the sleepers, which will also be manufactured offsite to reduce on-site labour and plant.<\/p>\n<h3>More efficient critical infrastructure<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cThis
