The investment is spread over the north and south of Scotland, the outskirts of London, and Northern Ireland<\/h2>\n

The investment in the ScottishPower Renewables<\/a> contracts is the highest of its kind so far, and will help maintain onshore windfarms for the next half a decade.<\/p>\n

The investment will also create engineering jobs as well as boost local economies.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are proud to be able to build on existing relationships\u201d<\/h3>\n

Three of the four companies benefiting from the investment have an existing relationship with ScottishPower Renewables with contracts having been completed on several windfarms in the past.<\/p>\n

The fourth company, Gael Energy Ltd, has prior experience working on and operating windfarms.<\/p>\n

ScottishPower Renewables\u2019 onshore construction and operations director Ross Galbraith said: \u201cTransitioning the country to a cleaner, greener future has so many benefits beyond the environment, and our support for the supply chain throughout the UK is clear evidence of this.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy continuing to invest in our assets, we are giving businesses in the supply chain the confidence to make their own investments, and that results in jobs and other benefits for local communities.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAll of these companies have proven track records in the wind energy sector, and we are proud to be able to build on existing relationships and cultivate new ones which we look forward to being able to grow in the years ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wind to be a key part of the UK\u2019s energy strategy<\/h3>\n

Confirmed in May, two offshore windfarm projects have been granted development consent by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ).<\/p>\n

The North Falls windfarm and Dogger Bank South wind farm will continue the UK\u2019s push for net zero, and brought the number of decisions for energy projects the Planning Inspectorate made to 108 out of 176, at the time.<\/p>\n

The Dogger Bank development includes infrastructure both onshore and offshore, such as high voltage electricity cables, electricity substations, connections to the National Grid, and ancillary and temporary works. The application for this development was submitted by RWE Renewables UK Dogger Bank South (West) Ltd and UK Dogger Bank South (East) Ltd on 12 June 2024, with it being accepted for examination on 10 July 2024.<\/p>\n

The North Falls offshore wind farm will be a generating station located 24.5km from the Port of Lowestoft, and will mostly be offshore wind turbines and the associated onshore and offshore infrastructure, including connections to the electricity transmission network.<\/p>\n
