11 new partnerships have been signed to deliver hospitals under the New Hospital Programme which is now entering the delivery phase<\/h2>\n

The new hospitals these agreements pertain to are across the east of England, including Manchester and Cornwall.<\/p>\n

NHS trusts and construction organisations will work together to create the 11 new schemes featuring modern hospitals designed to meet community, staff, and patient needs.<\/p>\n

Operating under Hospital 2.0<\/h3>\n

Hospital 2.0 is the New Hospital Programme\u2019s standardised approach to designing, building, and operating hospitals, which combines national standards, digital innovation, and modern methods of construction.<\/p>\n

The hospitals built under these new agreements will be built and operate under Hospital 2.0.<\/p>\n

Alongside the hospitals themselves, the contracts will establish a pipeline to support the construction industry\u2019s development and skills.<\/p>\n

NHS trusts will still be responsible for delivering hospitals for local communities, while the agreements will encourage national standards, quality, consistency, and value for money via collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.<\/p>\n

Karin Smyth, minister of state for health, said: \u201cFor too long, the construction of new hospitals has been bogged down by bureaucratic procurement processes, even after full approval and funding was in place, and we\u2019re determined to change that.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe changes announced today are a major step forward in streamlining the procurement process. Patients can look forward to new hospitals being delivered quicker, industry can plan with certainty, and taxpayers can be assured that we are getting maximum value for their money.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith stronger collaboration, shared learning and a boost for jobs, this further demonstrates this government\u2019s commitment to the New Hospital Programme, providing world-class facilities for the NHS and helping the economy in the process.\u201d<\/p>\n

Original programme delayed by years<\/h3>\n

The initial New Hospital Programme had its timetable updated in January last year after it was found that the funding and timetable would not be adequate.<\/p>\n

Funding is now given by HM Treasury in five-year waves, up to \u00a315bn per wave, averaging \u00a33bn per year from 2030 onwards.<\/p>\n
