{"id":166400,"date":"2026-10-07T10:43:01","date_gmt":"2026-10-07T09:43:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=166400"},"modified":"2026-10-07T10:43:01","modified_gmt":"2026-10-07T09:43:01","slug":"new-chief-construction-and-scientific-adviser-appointed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/people\/new-chief-construction-and-scientific-adviser-appointed\/166400\/","title":{"rendered":"New chief construction and scientific adviser appointed"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Sergio Cavalaro, professor of infrastructure systems at Loughborough University\u2019s School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering, is the new adviser<\/h2>\n<p>The new chief construction and scientific adviser (CCSA) will serve for the next three years, as the Building Safety Levy comes into effect.<\/p>\n<p>With his experience and academic expertise, Sergio is well positioned to help the government make decisions based on expertise.<\/p>\n<h3>He takes over from the interim CCSA<\/h3>\n<p>Sergio takes over from Thouria Istephan, who spent the last year as interim CCSA following recommendations from the Grenfell Inquiry&#8217;s closure.
