The local authority is set to present the proposals to the finance and resource committee on 29 October.<\/p>\n<p>The city is hoping to build the new homes to tackle the growing population in the region. The cost of the building project will also include work such as improving local infrastructure. Under the plans nine new primary schools will be built and some high schools in the area will be expanded to cope with new influx of pupils.<\/p>\n<p>The next steps will see the council investigate and analyse how best to fund the project, but it is expected a local development plan will be agreed by spring next year.<\/p>\n<p>Author of the report acting director of services for communities James Bury commented: \u201cThe LDP (local development plan) Action Programme is a statutory requirement of the development plan process.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt sets out a list of actions, including infrastructure measures, needed to deliver the policies and proposals in the LDP.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe action programme is a corporate document and is intended to be used as a mechanism to coordinate development proposals with the infrastructure and services needed to support them. It seeks to align the delivery of the LDP with corporate and national investment in infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe purpose of this report is to update committee on the financial implications of the infrastructure requirements of the LDP Action Programme on future capital and revenue budgets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis report also provides details of the potential funding sources available to the council to support this infrastructure and the alternative supplementary income streams to be investigated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Among the locations expected to benefit from the building scheme is Edinburgh Zoo, City Park, Moredunvale Road, Cammo, and South Gyle Wynd.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mk-custom-module-container\">\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A \u00a3300m home building programme has been unveiled by the City of Edinburgh Council, which will see 14,000 new properties built\u2026 Plans to build 14,000 new homes over the next decade have been revealed by the City of Edinburgh Council.
