The project, launched by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ukgbc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span>UK Green Building Council<\/span><\/a> (UK-GBC), aims to look at energy performance, as well as other aspects that could impact both the building user and the wider environment.<\/p>\n<p>The project, \u2018Delivering Building Performance\u2019, will be sponsored by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.burohappold.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span>BuroHappold<\/span><\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.saint-gobain.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span>Saint-Gobain<\/span><\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tarmac.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span>Tarmac Group<\/span><\/a>. It will call upon UK-GBC members to share their experiences regarding building performance and how they meet best practice. It is also hoped the research will give an understanding of gaps and barriers within the industry.<\/p>\n<p>The research is deemed necessary, as increasing evidence is showing a growing \u201cgap\u201d between the expected, designed or desired performance of a building and the reality of how it actually performs.<\/p>\n<p>UK-GBC\u2019s CEO Julie Hirigoyen said: &#8220;I am delighted that UK-GBC members are supporting this important piece of work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHuge cost, carbon and productivity benefits can be gained through a closer focus on the performance of buildings as we design, construct and operate them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFollowing the COP21 deal, this is just one of the ways in which the UK industry is showing its leadership and ambition.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Buildings are a well-known contributor to carbon output and as such have become a major focus for reducing emission.
