{"id":23468,"date":"2016-04-08T09:44:22","date_gmt":"2016-04-08T09:44:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=23468"},"modified":"2016-04-08T09:44:22","modified_gmt":"2016-04-08T09:44:22","slug":"metalwork-firm-fined-unsafe-practices","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/health-safety-news\/metalwork-firm-fined-unsafe-practices\/23468\/","title":{"rendered":"Metalwork firm fined for unsafe practices"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span>A firm specialising in metalwork casting and machining has been fined after a worker nearly fell through a fragile roof\u2026<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>MJ Allen Holdings Limited, based in Kent, has been fined for unsafe work practices.<\/p>\n<p>The case was brought before Canterbury Crown Court after a worker slipped and almost fell through the fragile roof of the company workshop.<\/p>\n<p>The incident, which occurred on 19 September 2014, was investigated by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hse.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span>Health and Safety Executive<\/span><\/a> (HSE).<\/p>\n<p>It was discerned that the MJ Allen Holdings failed to provide suitable equipment for working at height.
