Mace has revealed it has achieved BIM Level 2 accreditation before the government\u2019s deadline for public sector projects\u2026<\/h2>\n

International consultancy and construction firm Mace<\/a> has successfully achieved BIM Level 2 compliance, meaning the firm will be eligible to undertake public sector contracts.<\/p>\n

The government has mandated all firms that wish to tender for centrally procured UK government projects should be Level 2 compliant by the 4 April. This, the government hoped, would ensure greater uptake of BIM within the construction industry.<\/p>\n

BIM\u2014building information modelling\u2014is increasingly growing in popularity, offering more efficiency and better collaboration on projects. The uptake of technology in the construction sector remains a key component of meeting building demands over the next few years.<\/p>\n

To gain accreditation, BSI assessed Mace to ensure the firm was capable of delivering projects using BIM. The company must demonstrate through strict assessment criteria that it can do so in order to achieve the BIM verification for PAS1192:2-2013<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mace was assessed on areas such as Design and Delivery\u2014including Tier 1 Lead Designer and Contractor, Project Management, Design Management and Construction, all of which comply with PAS 1192-2:2013, BS1192-4:2014 and BS 1192:2007.<\/p>\n

Speaking of the accreditation, Jon Harris, head of BIM at Mace said: \u201cWe\u2019re delighted to receive BIM Level 2 verification PAS 1192-2.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis allows Mace to demonstrate our capability to clients that we are BIM ready.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt also provides assurance to our supply chain that we have the competency to deliver compliant UK Government BIM Level 2 requirements to all centrally procured government contracts, as well as, private sector building, civil, infrastructure, refurbishment and new-build design and construction projects using BIM.\u201d<\/p>\n
