It has a 432 solar roof array, which generates some 20 per cent of the building\u2019s energy needs. There is also a natural ventilation system which runs through the central atrium, providing natural sunlight. The building is also wrapped in a fa\u00e7ade that reduces energy use by controlling the amount of heat from the sunlight that enters the building.<\/p>\n<p>Located on the Camber Quay waterfront in Portsmouth, it is thought to be the first BREEAM excellent building used by a British sports team.<\/p>\n<p>Jeremy Pochman, president of 11th Hour Racing, BAR\u2019s sustainability partner, said: &#8220;We are proud of Land Rover BAR&#8217;s achievements and progress across the board of their sustainability strategy, which is highlighted in the team&#8217;s headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe team&#8217;s base is a true testament to innovation, technology, long-term vision and sustainability \u2013 all elements that are integral to the mission of 11th Hour Racing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;By investing in such a progressive structure, Land Rover BAR have demonstrated how smart sustainable design and construction can lead to enormous gains in terms of efficiency \u2013 not only as far as energy, but also at a competitive and sporting level.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor 11th Hour Racing, this milestone of BREEAM excellent standard represents an unprecedented success story, and a legacy that will inspire the next generation of sailors, engineers, architects and fans across the world of sport.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"mk-custom-module-container\">\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sailing team Land Rover BAR has become the first British sports team to operate from a building with a BREEAM excellent rating\u2026 British sailing team Land Rover BAR has made strides to become the UK\u2019s most sustainable sports team by operating from a building with a BREEAM excellent rating.
