{"id":26173,"date":"2016-08-19T14:37:37","date_gmt":"2016-08-19T14:37:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/planningandbuildingcontroltoday.co.uk\/?p=25516"},"modified":"2016-11-23T12:48:50","modified_gmt":"2016-11-23T12:48:50","slug":"value-infrastructure-contracts-drops-post-brexit-vote","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/value-infrastructure-contracts-drops-post-brexit-vote\/26173\/","title":{"rendered":"The value of infrastructure contracts drops post-Brexit vote"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Since the UK voted to leave the EU the value of infrastructure contracts has fallen 20 per cent<\/h2>\n<p>New figures have revealed a significant drop in the value of infrastructure contracts since the vote to leave the EU was taken.<\/p>\n<p>According to figures from industry analysts <a href=\"http:\/\/www.barbour-abi.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span>Barbour ABI<\/span><\/a>, contracts in July saw a 20 per cent decrease in value, falling to \u00a31.5bn when compared to June.<\/p>\n<p>The Economic &amp; Construction Market Review also found new construction orders were down to \u00a35.8bn in July. This was a month-on-month drop of \u00a3400m.<\/p>\n<p>Infrastructure and residential saw a prominent fall, with the latter seeing a seven per cent decrease in contract values and a drop of 2,000 units compared to the previous month.<\/p>\n<p>However, office construction saw growth, increasing 22 per cent when compared to June and reached a total of \u00a3648m on the month.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Dall, lead economist at Barbour ABI, said: \u201cIn the first full month since the vote to leave the European Union, the value of construction projects reaching contract award stage declined in July.
