{"id":29362,"date":"2016-12-19T16:05:53","date_gmt":"2016-12-19T16:05:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=29362"},"modified":"2016-12-19T16:09:35","modified_gmt":"2016-12-19T16:09:35","slug":"london-infrastructure-investment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/london-infrastructure-investment\/29362\/","title":{"rendered":"London gets \u00a3220m investment to improve infrastructure and public spaces"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>More than \u00a3220m is to be invested by Transport for London to improve London infrastructure including\u00a0transport and public spaces<\/h2>\n<p>London boroughs are to gain a major boost after Transport for London (<a href=\"https:\/\/tfl.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">TfL<\/a>) revealed it will provide more than \u00a3220m funding to improve transport and public spaces.<\/p>\n<p>The investment will be used by boroughs to transform local areas, with \u00a3148m being put into <a href=\"https:\/\/tfl.gov.uk\/corporate\/publications-and-reports\/local-implementation-plans\" target=\"_blank\">Local Implementation Plans<\/a>. A further \u00a370m will be used for a range of projects including strategic walking and cycling programmes Quietways, Mini-Hollands and Liveable Neighbourhoods.<\/p>\n<p>The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan said: \u201cI\u2019m proud that through the new TfL Business Plan we are creating a modern and affordable transport network for the capital, and am delighted that we are able to invest an increased level of funding across the boroughs next year too.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy making walking and cycling easier and safer, and funding projects that will improve air quality, we can help boroughs right across the capital to deliver transport and public space improvements that are going to make a real difference to the lives of Londoners.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Investment will benefit all London boroughs<\/h3>\n<p>Camden will see \u00a36.7m investment. This will be used to deliver two-way traffic on Tottenham Court Road, Gower Street and Bloomsbury Street; new public spaces; and bus and cycle only routes.<\/p>\n<p>Westminster will receive \u00a33.6m, which will include \u00a3200,000 to develop cycling, walking, bus and public realm proposals.<\/p>\n<p>A total of \u00a32.6m will be invested in Hounslow, \u00a3120,000 of which will be used for a new shared-use Greenways route alongside the Longford River linking Hanworth Park to Feltham Town Centre.<\/p>\n<p>One million will be invested in the City of London, with \u00a3380,000 going on improving road safety on accident hotspot junctions.<\/p>\n<p>Havering, Croydon, Lambeth, and Bexley will also receive \u00a32.3m, \u00a32.9m, \u00a33.8m, and \u00a31.9m respectively to undergo improvements.<\/p>\n<p>Councillor Julian Bell, Chair of London Councils Transport &amp;
