{"id":35282,"date":"2017-09-27T15:08:08","date_gmt":"2017-09-27T14:08:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=35282"},"modified":"2021-01-11T11:43:26","modified_gmt":"2021-01-11T11:43:26","slug":"scia-user-contest-winners-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/hr-skills-news\/scia-user-contest-winners-announced\/35282\/","title":{"rendered":"SCIA User Contest winners announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>SCIA, a provider of structural engineering software, has announced the six winners of the 10th edition of the SCIA User Contest, titled \u2018The Art of Structural Design\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>The contest represents the impressive and inspiring work of some of the world\u2019s top engineers.<\/p>\n<p>In total, 124 outstanding international structural and civil engineering projects participated in the SCIA User Contest 2017. Utilising SCIA Engineer as the structural analysis and design software, all of these projects demonstrated originality and also focused on sustainability and the application of BIM.<\/p>\n<p>An international jury of eight experts from the industry and academia selected a winner in four categories: buildings, civil structures, industrial buildings and plants and special projects. The jury also awarded the best BIM project with the \u2018Special Prize of the Jury\u2019 for its advanced adoption of BIM.<\/p>\n<p>SCIA organised the \u2018Prize of the Public\u2019 contest on the company&#8217;s Facebook page, revealing all the participating projects to the public who had the opportunity to vote on their favourite ones. Over 10,000 people worldwide visited the contest page, and all projects received over 2,700 votes.<\/p>\n<p>Hilde Sevens, CEO at SCIA, said: \u201cEvery one of the projects in the User Contest 2017 was truly a remarkable showcase of the very art of structural design. I am proud of the work our customers have been able to achieve with SCIA Engineer. Their success and results inspire and empower us to innovate and to provide structural engineers with the tool that enables them to do anything they aspire.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>The Winners include:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Category 1 &#8211; Buildings: The Port House in Antwerp, Belgium \u2013 Mouton cvba<\/li>\n<li>Category 2 &#8211; Civil Structures: Bridge over Rhine River in Strasbourg, France \/ Kehl, Germany \u2013 Ingenieursbureau Stendess N.V<\/li>\n<li>Category 3 &#8211; Industrial Buildings and Plants: Shoaiba II Power Plant in Shoaiba, Saudi Arabia \u2013 I.d.d.
