Specialists in property regeneration, U+I Group, have been given the go-ahead to launch a \u00a3300m regeneration project in Brighton<\/h2>\n

The developer has secured planning consent for a major renovation of the University of Brighton\u2019s Mouslecoomb campus alongside Preston Barracks on Lewes Road.<\/p>\n

U+I Group is working in a public-private partnership with the University of Brighton on the ten-year project, which includes 369 new homes, 1,338 student bedrooms, and a new building for the university\u2019s business school.<\/p>\n

Designed by architects Hassell, Studio Egret West, TP Bennett, and Stride Treglown<\/a>, the regeneration project will also include a 50,000 sq ft business hub for start-up firms.<\/p>\n

It is estimated the regeneration scheme could create over 1,500 jobs over the next ten years.<\/p>\n

U+I deputy chief executive Richard Upton said: \u201cThe Preston Barracks project is one of the largest and most ambitious regeneration projects to have been brought forward in Brighton for a number of years.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will deliver world-class, imaginative urban design, leaving a lasting legacy that befits such an inspirational city.\u201d<\/p>\n

University of Brighton vice chancellor Debra Humpris added: \u201cWe are delighted that our plans have been approved. This partnership aims to deliver one of the most ambitious and transformational projects for the city in a neighbourhood where meaningful regeneration is long overdue.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe scheme has the potential to have a huge positive impact both for the local community and wider city, as we look to deliver on our aspiration to create an inspiring place where people can live, work and learn together.\u201d<\/p>\n

The project will be U+I\u2019s second in Brighton, following\u00a0its \u00a3130m Circus Street development, which secured planning consent in 2015.<\/p>\n

The scheme includes 142 residential units, 450 student beds, 38,000 sq ft of office space, a new library and academic building for the University of Brighton, as well as a new dance studio for South East Dance.<\/p>\n
