One of the largest developers and owners of commercial real estate in China, the Jinmao Holdings Group, has committed to applying international sustainability standard BREEAM on a minimum of 100 building projects over the next two years<\/h2>\n

The announcement comes as Jinmao embarks on a 10bn RMB (~\u00a31.13bn) residential and commercial construction programme, and shows their commitment to set the standard to drive sustainability in China and market leaders.<\/p>\n

Yang Bing, General Manager of Jinmao Green Building Technology, said: \u201cIn most of China, Jinmao’s multiple developments from across the country in Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Guangzhou, and Chongqing, using BREEAM International New Construction, enables us to continue on our mission to transform the Chinese real estate market.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur goal is to create higher value properties that provide great and healthy spaces for people and don\u2019t have adverse effects on the environment. We see BREEAM with its independent approach and strong science to the standard to support us in what we are looking to do, and look to further collaboration in the future with BRE.\u201d<\/p>\n

The agreement was signed at the China-UK<\/a> ceremony in Beijing which was attended by Department of International Trade Minister Dr Liam Fox and Mr Wang Wenbin, Vice Minister of SASAC, and which took place during the three day visit by UK Prime Minister Teresa May to China to boost bi-lateral trade and investment. This visit continues the \u2018Golden Era\u2019 of China-UK collaboration following President Xi’s first state visit to the UK in October 2015. Prime Minister May and President Xi emphasised that China-UK bilateral relations have gone from strength to strength.<\/p>\n

President of BRE China Jaya Skandamoorthy said: \u201cWe are very pleased to announce this long-term strategic collaborative with Jinmao which is based on our shared mission to drive positive impacts on the global built environment with significant social, environmental and economic benefits for all.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other areas of collaboration which BRE and Jinmao are working on together include understanding the market need for BRE\u2019s Responsible Sourcing Standard for Construction Products<\/a> BES 6001, which demonstrates the ethos of supply chain management and product stewardship and encompasses social, economic and environmental considerations.<\/p>\n
