{"id":39400,"date":"2018-03-13T14:38:42","date_gmt":"2018-03-13T14:38:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=39400"},"modified":"2018-03-13T14:38:42","modified_gmt":"2018-03-13T14:38:42","slug":"london-to-receive-1-67bn-boost-for-affordable-homes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/london-to-receive-1-67bn-boost-for-affordable-homes\/39400\/","title":{"rendered":"Spring Statement 2018: London to receive \u00a31.67bn boost for affordable homes"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Chancellor of the Exchequer, Philip Hammond, has announced that London will receive an additional \u00a31.67bn to deliver a further 27,000 affordable homes by the end of 2021\/22<\/h2>\n<p>During the Spring Statement, the Hammond announced that the government was working with 44 authorities on their bids for the \u00a34.1bn <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/housing-infrastructure-fund-what-is-it-and-will-it-really-make-a-difference\/35694\/\">Housing Infrastructure Fund (HIF)<\/a> to deliver the homes that the UK needs.<\/p>\n<p>Hammond reported that 60,000 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/autumn-budget-abolishes-stamp-duty-for-first-time-buyers\/36596\/\">first-time buyers had benefited from the abolition of stamp duty<\/a> in the Autumn Budget 2017 for homes under \u00a3300,000.<\/p>\n<p>Bean counters at accountants <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blickrothenberg.com\/\">Blick Rothenberg<\/a> have worked out that the Stamp Duty tax relief could cost the government \u00a31bn in the first year.<\/p>\n<p>Partner Nimesh Shah said: &#8220;Based on the Chancellor\u2019s claim that 60,000 people have benefited, it means the relief has cost the Treasury up to \u00a3300m in just under four months.
