{"id":39742,"date":"2018-03-23T11:19:35","date_gmt":"2018-03-23T11:19:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/?p=39742"},"modified":"2018-03-23T11:19:35","modified_gmt":"2018-03-23T11:19:35","slug":"projects-in-northern-england-to-benefit-from-15m-northern-cultural-regeneration-fund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/projects-in-northern-england-to-benefit-from-15m-northern-cultural-regeneration-fund\/39742\/","title":{"rendered":"Projects in Northern England to benefit from \u00a315m Northern Cultural Regeneration Fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Three major cultural projects across the North of England are to receive a share of the \u00a315m Northern Cultural Regeneration Fund, Arts, Heritage and Tourism Minister Michael Ellis announced today (23 March)<\/h2>\n<p>The Northern Cultural Regeneration fund, which was created to build a lasting regional legacy from the <a href=\"https:\/\/getnorth2018.com\/\">Great Exhibition of the North<\/a>, will support diverse projects in Blackpool, Bradford and the Lake District.<\/p>\n<p>A total of \u00a34m will help transform the vacant former Bradford Odeon cinema into a 4,000 capacity live music, entertainment and events venue.<\/p>\n<p>Some \u00a33.3m will improve the visitor experience at cultural attractions across the Lake District, the UK\u2019s newest World Heritage Site.<\/p>\n<p>An additional \u00a34m will be used to create a museum in Blackpool that will celebrate the town\u2019s history as the UK\u2019s first mass seaside holiday resort.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Ellis, Minister for Arts, Heritage and Tourism, said: \u201cThese exciting projects will provide a true cultural legacy for people across the North that increases tourism, boosts local economies and creates jobs for the future. They reflect the diversity and unique identity of Blackpool, Bradford and the Lake District and will enable them to realise their exciting cultural ambitions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Exchequer Secretary Robert Jenrick said: \u201cThe UK has the most vibrant cultural scene and creative industry in the world today, but we want to ensure that reaches all parts of the country and that every young person has access to cultural experiences and opportunities. That\u2019s why we are investing these resources to ensure there is a lasting legacy for the upcoming Great Exhibition of the North, driving the region\u2019s economic and cultural success.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbctoday.co.uk\/news\/planning-construction-news\/enterprise-ireland-launches-northern-powerhouse-report\/38521\/\">Northern Powerhouse<\/a> Minister, Jake Berry, added: \u201cThese multi-million pound cultural investments in Blackpool, Bradford and the Lake District represent a major economic and cultural boost for the Northern Powerhouse.
